The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

The product, in the report: MotoTec 48v Pro Electric Dirt Bike 1600w Lithium Green. Here is a link to the product website: https://mototecusa.com/mototec-48v-pro-electric-dirt-bike-1500w-lithium-green.aspx

My daughter was riding a Mototec 48V electric dirtbike and received a severe laceration on her leg. She was sitting stationary on the bike and then applied the throttle. The bike lurched forward and caused her to fall to the left. Her speed was very low, maybe 2~3 mph. The fall itself caused a small sharp bracket on the outside of the kickstand to puncture her leg. When she rotated her body to get up from the fall, the bracket that had punctured her leg then continued to slice open her leg. Her leg was severely lacerated through all layers of skin, about 5 inches in length. After examining the bike after the incident, the bracket is in a location that will contact the leg during a fall, with the weight of the bike on that bracket. The bracket is also stamped steel and is very sharp on the edge. This is a safety defect. I noticed on Mototec’s website that the bracket has been relocated to the inner side of the kickstand on new models shown on their website. CPSC need to investigate Mototec to consider recalling these products and preventing other injuries.
