The product, in the report: 29 inch carbon mountain bike front wheel.
While riding my mountain bike on a well paved street at 14 mph the carbon front wheel suddenly disintegrated without any apparent cause. In the resulting head-first fall onto the pavement I suffered a concussion, bruises, and abrasions. My helmet was cracked from the impact and my cycling bibs were torn. Some passing motorists checked on me. After some time passed, I was able to walk the quarter mile to my office.
The manufacturer replaced the wheel but had no explanation as to the cause of the catastrophic failure. Subsequent Internet searches revealed that others had problems with this model wheel including tests conducted by a renowned online bicycle site. [REDACTED]
The wheels were less than a year old and had been used for only 230 miles.
