The product, in the report: SRAM DB5 Hydraulic Disc Brakes for bicycles
Both front and rear SRAM DB5 Hydraulic Disc Brakes on my mountain bike failed yesterday at the same time. Luckily, no injuries as I was riding in the mountains. The bike mechanic said this was a known issue with these SRAM brakes as the lever piston swells in the heat and will not move back and forth as designed to apply and release the brakes. It was 90 degrees at the time of failure. The repair is to remove the pistons and slightly sand them down so they can move freely. And, the bike mechanic said it may reoccur. This bike is only 6 months old!!! The bike mechanic thinks it is caused by the DOT brake fluid and lever piston expands in the heat and causes the failure. If it matters, I am a U.S. citizen.
