Dear Sir or Madam,
I purchased my New Santa Cruz 1050 with your SRAM Guide Ultimate hydraulic brakes in 2017 and I was unaware of the recall.
On 03-24-2019 I was on a riding when the front brake locked up and I fell. Thank goodness that I was not traveling fast so I was able to avoid any serious injuries except for some scratches and bruises. I am 65 years old and have been a fan of your products! However, when I took my bike in to the Trek Service Department I was told of the problems with this model of brakes and new ones would have to be purchased as there where no fixes! I spoke with [REDACTED] at the SAN Marcos, CA Trek Store.
I had been living in San Diego, CA when I purchased the MTB and have been having some issues with the brakes since day one. The issues usually worked there-selves-out but I have inexperienced mushy brakes, locking up slightly and then the crash. The MTB is fairly still new as I am a more avid road cyclist then a Mt Biker.
If there is a fix please send me the components so I can have the shop repair the brakes! Hopefully there is some sort of warranty’s on the brakes still as the Trek Warrenty manager advised me only two years! Well I am a firm believer that you should stand behind your products since there are so many complaints and possibly civil liability issues at stake.
Please help as a new pair will cost me well over $300.00!
I have SRAM Red components on my road bike for the last several years with no issues (All though they are cable). I am a fan but since this last issue I will be spreading word.
Regards, [REDACTED]
