  1. No one hurt

Made Aug 15, 2015, sent to the company Sep 9, 2015, published by CPSC Sep 23, 2015

The product, in the report: Roadmaster men’s mountain bike. Granite Peak

We purchased a roadmaster granite peak bicycle for our son this past year. The seat stem bent, placing the rider in jeopardy of falling off. The worst thing is the pedal and arm fall off while he’s riding. As of this point he hasn’t been hurt but this appears to be an ongoing issue. While looking for a fix online I discovered this question “Pedal fell of Roadmaster Granite peak” here is the link http://www.fixya.com/support/p8967182-roadmaster_granite_peak_26_mens_mountai Another consumer had a video on youtube; www.youtube.com/watch?v=ngVO64N8jJs

I thought we’d lost a part since both my husband and I as well as our son replaced the bolt as tight as we could and it obviously wasn’t enough. It’s happened several times now. Thankfully he has not been hurt.

The product, in the report: Mountain bike,24 inch, blue color

My granddaughter was riding a mountain bike that I purchased less than a month before and the first thing that happened was the bolt holding the handlebar broke and she could not control her direction of travel. I fixed that and a few days later the rivet through the rear brake hand activator which pulls the cable to activate the rear brake broke. She had no rear brake which caused her to panic and she ran into some shrubbery to stop the bike and received bad bruises on her arm and leg when she fell along with several scratches and scraps on her body. This bike has only been ridden on city neighborhood streets for a total of less than 10 (ten) hours. This is a mountain bike and if it was being ridden on a mountain path when all this happened the consequences would have been much worse.
