The product, in the report: Bicycle Hydraulic brake system

I was working on my wife’s mountain bike when I noticed a crack in the clamp that holds the lever to the bars. Fortunately it had only broken through one side but the other side is already showing signs of a developing crack. This could have been very serious if the lever had broken free on a descent leaving her with no brake.

From researching on line it looks like this was a problem with a batch of these brakes.

I compared the clamp with one that I have on my bike and there is a noticeable difference in the amount of material that has been removed confirming that there was a change made to the design. I am attaching a picture of the broken clamp and then a comparison of it with the redesigned part.
