  2. No one hurt

Made Jul 7, 2021, sent to the company Nov 5, 2021, published by CPSC Feb 10, 2022

The product, in the report: Giant 18 or 27 speed, all terrain bicycle Frame: 5’7’’-5’10’’

2021: The consumer was throwing the bike away, because it was having a number of issues, unrelated to the crack. The consumer gave the bike to a friend, who cleaned it up and identified a crack in the frame. The crack is located near the bike crankshaft.

The consumer went to the dealer and their bike repair rep. (name unknown) told him if water gets into the bike frame, it will rust and expand. The consumer questioned how water would get into the frame if it’s aluminum. The consumer claims that rep. was unwilling to offer any further assistance with this matter. The consumer asked what would happen if he ordered a new frame. The rep. said that China is so far behind on parts, it would not arrive before the Summer is over, so he wouldn’t order it.

The consumer spoke with the owner of the dealer about this matter.

The consumer also noted that this bike came with a lifetime warranty.

He has tried to call the dealer, but has never been able to speak with a live representative.

Updates to Report: The Mechanic at Holyoke informed me that he has seen (hundred’s of these bike failures) if that is true then the problem is much more extensive than just me.
