The product, in the report: Bicycle Pedal

I was riding up hill on my mountain bike when the spindle of my Crank Brothers Mallet C pedal snapped in two. I was going slowly uphill so I was unharmed, but the thought of what could have happened if it had broken at a less opportune moment inspired me to report this incident. The spindle snapped on the right/drive side pedal approximately 1.5” from where the pedal screws into the crank arm. The failure was sudden and catastrophic. The pedal has been used for approximately 6800 miles since I purchased it in May 2008.
