  1. No one hurt

Made Jul 7, 2025, sent to the company Jul 10, 2025, published by CPSC Jul 24, 2025

The product, in the report: Swagtron Swagboard T5 Entry Level Hoverboard

On Friday, June 6, 2025, between approximately 8:00 AM and 2:30 PM, the hoverboard spontaneously combusted while sitting unplugged in our home. No one was home at the time. My husband came home early from work and found the house filled with black smoke. He immediately called the fire department, who responded and found the hoverboard still smoldering.

The fire caused significant soot and smoke damage throughout our entire home, rendering it uninhabitable at the moment. All rooms including the kitchen, bedrooms, bathrooms, closets as well as all furniture, clothing, food, cabinets, drawers, and rugs, everything, are covered in soot.

The product, in the report: Swagtron App-Enabled T580 Bluetooth Hoverboard w/Speaker

We were sitting in the house when we heard a loud bang and didn’t know what it was. We discovered that the hoverboard, a Swagtron T580 (which is UL 2272 Certified), had exploded on one side and caught fire. It was not on the charger at the time nor had it been used recently. Had we not been home, it would have burned the house down as it was against a wall that does have explosive residue on it.

Made Feb 8, 2020, sent to the company Feb 28, 2020, published by CPSC Mar 13, 2020

The product, in the report: Swagtron T882 EVO black hoverboard with led lights.

I purchased the Swagtron T882 EVO hoverboard 35 business days ago. While on the charger today; Feb. 8, 2020, our home was filled with an awful smell of something burning. I immediately unplugged the hoverboard and noticed it had leaked battery acid on my carpet. The power cord came apart in my frantic rush to get this thing out of my home before it caught fire to my home. It leaked battery acid all over my hands and arm which immediately started burning my skin. This product is extremely dangerous and should be recalled before someones home does catch on fire. I fear for another adult or innocent child to get battery acid on them due to this highly dangerous product. Walmart refuses to allow a return on this product.
