Seen by a doctor or nurse Made Sep 13, 2026, sent to the company Sep 18, 2026, published by CPSC Oct 3, 2026
The product, in the report: Onewheel Pint S with a navy blue fender. Max weight 250 lbs. Max Speed: 20 mph.
On 8/31/26, my 13 year old son was riding his Onewheel Pint S that was purchased back in October 2025. He was riding it in a neighborhood, going straight, not swerving or going over any bumps. He was at a speed of about 15-18 miles. Suddenly, the Onewheel locked up and dropped it’s nose. It completely stopped at a high speed and launched him off the Onewheel onto the concreate.
He had many road rash scrapes and cutes. He luckily had his helmet fastened tight. It was very scratched up. He had deep cuts/road rash along his left shoulder, left elbow, left hip, tops of both hands, tops of both knees, and the left elbow. I took him to urgent care for evaluation. He had x-rays of his left shoulder and right pinkie. His injuries were cleaned and bandaged. No concussion.
The next day we had to go back to urgent care to get his left arm splinted because the x-rays showed that there might potentially be a fracture. The following we day we went to an orthopedist. Took x-rays of his left elbow and shoulder, which was still hurting. He was evaluated and luckily, no fractures.
This could have been much worse had he been flung in front of an oncoming car and also his injuries could have been even more severe. This product should not instantly stop at a high speed without any provocation from the rider.

The product, in the report: Its a Onewheel Pint. Battery operated single wheeled personal transport.
I bought a Onewheel from Future Motion and its defective. I was riding it and as I was trying to slow down it actually increased in speed causing me to have to jump off into a yard at significant injury to my shoulder and knee. Ive emailed them for over two months and have been very accommodating in explaining the situation and sending videos SHOWING the defect. Only to be dismissed and even blocking my number.

First aid Made Nov 3, 2025, sent to the company Nov 14, 2025, published by CPSC Dec 1, 2025
The product, in the report: The Onewheel+ XR is a self-balancing electric skateboard (often called a one-wheeled skateboard) manufactured by Future Motion Inc., designed for recreational riding, commuting, and off-road terrain. Its a single-board device with a 750W Hypercore hub motor embedded in an 11.5-inch x 6.5-6-inch Vega off-road tire, powered by a 324Wh Nickel Manganese Cobalt Oxide (NMC) lithium-ion battery (63V nominal), and controlled via solid-state MEMS 6-DOF (degrees of freedom) footpad sensors for lean-based steering and speed control (up to 19 mph/30 kph top speed, 12-18 mile/19-29 km typical range, >30 max lean angle). The board charges in ~110 minutes via USB-C and includes a Maghandle for carrying. Dimensions: 9.5 in x 11.5 in x 29.5 in (241 mm x 292 mm x 750 mm).Weight: 27 lbs (12.5 kg).Standard color: Black base with gray footpads (custom colors like blue or red available via aftermarket, but stock is monochrome).Size variants: None (one size fits all riders up to ~250 lbs recommended).Purpose: Urban and trail mobility, with app integration (Onewheel app) for ride tracking, firmware updates, and modes (e.g., Silent, Mission for speed). Hardware rev 4212 (as in your case) dates to mid-2020 production, known for fender-sensor interference without factory bumper pads. This matches your serial 2118255594 and July 2025 support thread (FM confirmed the missing bumper pad defect causing footpad wear).
What happened that made you want to report? I contacted Future Motion in July 2025 about footpad sensor wear caused by the fender grinding them (hardware rev 4212). They confirmed the missing bumper pad defect in writing but refused repair or warning, advising only to remove the fender and buy a new one. I removed the fender as a precaution. On October 26, 2025, it abruptly cut out on flat ground with no warning, ejecting me. After the fall, I researched and discovered Future Motion has known since at least 2020 about: (1) rev 4212 and earlier boards suffering fender-induced footpad wear leading to ghost-riding, and (2) balance wire failures causing sudden ejections. They never disclosed this despite my prior report. I emailed them again on October 29, 2025 no reply in over a week. What type of product(s) were being used? Onewheel+ XR (serial 2118255594, hardware rev 4212, FW 4165) Who was using the product(s)? I was using the product. How were the product(s) being used? Normal ride on level, smooth pavement at moderate speed (~84% battery, firmware 4165 active). Were there any injuries that happened or may have happened while using the product? Yes head hit pavement first, then elbow. Helmet [REDACTED] cracked full-length down the side; I was severely dazed with possible concussion; elbow skinned and contused. How did any injuries occur? I was ejected when the boards power cut out without any warning, despite being well within operational limits. The ride log recorded only 0.63 miles and omitted altitude data entirely never seen in 6712 lifetime miles.
UPDATED ON 11/18/2025: [I am writing to provide a critical update to my injury complaint (20251103-8998E-2147326613) filed on November 3, 2025, regarding my Onewheel XR (Serial 2118255594, Hardware 4212, Firmware Gemini-4165), which caused serious head trauma and injury on October 26, 2025.
TIMELINE: KNOWN DEFECT → INJURY → EXPLICIT REFUSAL OF REMEDY
Contact Attempt 1 - July 2025
I initially contacted Future Motion regarding accelerated footpad wear caused by the fender grinding. During this communication, Future Motion support staff ([REDACTED]) confirmed in writing that my board (Hardware 4212) has a known missing component—the fender buffer pads—which is supposed to prevent the fender from contacting the footpad. Despite acknowledging this hardware defect, Future Motion refused to provide replacement parts. Instead, they advised me to either remove the fender entirely or purchase a replacement fender.
Contact Attempt 2 - October 29, 2025
On October 26, 2025, while riding on flat ground at normal speed, my board suddenly cut power with zero warning and ejected me, causing head trauma, helmet destruction, and elbow injury. Three days later, on October 29, 2025, I contacted Future Motion requesting board replacement under CPSC Recall 23-299. This formal demand was my second organized contact with the company.
No response was received.
Contact Attempt 3 - November 3, 2025
With no response after more than a week, I sent a third email to Future Motion on November 3, 2025, again requesting board replacement under CPSC Recall 23-299. This communication included detailed information about my injury, the incident circumstances, and my board’s specific serial number and hardware configuration.
Again, no response.
Contact Attempt 4 - November 4-5, 2025
On November 4, 2025, I created a new email account ([REDACTED]) and submitted a fourth contact request to Future Motion’s support address (support@onewheel.com), again requesting board replacement under CPSC Recall 23-299. I received an immediate automated response confirming receipt.
The next day, on November 5, 2025, Future Motion responded directly to my new email address via their support account. However, rather than honoring the CPSC-mandated recall remedy, support staff member [REDACTED] sent a response explicitly stating:
“...we cannot provide monetary compensation or a full board replacement...”
This statement represents a direct refusal to comply with CPSC Recall 23-299’s mandatory remedy for defective boards. Rather than addressing the known hardware defect, [REDACTED] then proceeded to ask multiple questions attempting to shift responsibility for the board’s failure to rider error, despite my extensive riding history and documented incident parameters.
WHY THIS WAS NOT RIDER ERROR
As a rider with over 12,000 miles of lifetime Onewheel experience, I have experienced approximately 20 prior falls and incidents. In all of those prior incidents which occurred across varied terrain, different riding conditions, and numerous circumstances I attributed each injury to my own riding error, judgment mistakes, or environmental factors. I have never sued or complained about those incidents because I understood I was responsible for those accidents.
October 26, 2025 was fundamentally different. In my 12,000 miles of riding experience, this was the first time I experienced a sudden power cutout with zero warning on completely flat ground. The incident parameters (normal speed: 9.3 MPH average, flat terrain, 84% battery remaining, no warning signals) were unlike any prior fall. My ride data clearly documents these parameters, proving this was not reckless riding but rather a product defect failure.
[REDACTED] attempt to characterize this incident as rider error is not supported by any evidence. It contradicts my extensive riding experience demonstrating responsible behavior, my ride data showing normal operating conditions, my own credibility demonstrated by taking responsibility for prior genuine rider errors, and the documented hardware defect (missing buffer pads) that Future Motion itself acknowledged in July.
MANUFACTURING DEFECT PATTERN
My initial CPSC report documented that Future Motion has known since at least 2020 about hardware revision 4212 and earlier boards suffering fender-induced footpad wear leading to ghost-riding (sudden power cutout with no warning) and balance wire failures causing sudden ejections. The defect I experienced on October 26, 2025 sudden power cutout with zero warning causing ejection on flat ground matches precisely the known defect pattern Future Motion has been aware of for at least five years.
MANUFACTURER’S PATTERN OF NON-COMPLIANCE
Future Motion’s conduct demonstrates a clear pattern:
1. Acknowledgment of defect (July 2025) - Support staff confirmed missing hardware component 2. Refusal to remedy (July 2025) - Declined to provide replacement parts 3. Consumer injury (October 26, 2025) - Board failed exactly as the known defect predicts 4. Non-response to recall request (October 29 and November 3, 2025) - Failed to respond to formal demands 5. Explicit refusal of recall remedy (November 5, 2025) - [REDACTED] stated Future Motion “cannot provide” the mandated replacement 6. Blame-shifting (November 5, 2025) - Attempted to assign responsibility to rider despite knowing hardware defect
REQUEST FOR CPSC ENFORCEMENT ACTION
Given Future Motion’s explicit refusal to provide the CPSC Recall 23-299 mandated remedy (full board replacement) despite acknowledging the underlying hardware defect, I respectfully request that the CPSC:
1. Escalate this matter to enforcement given explicit non-compliance with recall obligations 2. Contact Future Motion to mandate immediate compliance with Recall 23-299 3. Consider civil penalties or mandatory corrective action for refusing recall remedy after acknowledging known defects 4. Issue public alert that Future Motion is refusing the mandated recall remedy to consumers 5. Investigate the broader pattern of defects (ghost-riding, balance wire failures) that have persisted despite Future Motion’s knowledge since at least 2020
ADDITIONAL ACTION
I am filing a small claims court action against Future Motion Inc. on November 10, 2025, seeking reimbursement for the defective product, documented injury damages, and to establish legal accountability for Future Motion’s knowing refusal to remedy a documented manufacturing defect.]

First aid Made Sep 2, 2025, sent to the company Sep 5, 2025, published by CPSC Sep 19, 2025
The product, in the report: In description.
Product: OneWheel GT-s Manufacturer: Future Motion, Inc. Serial Number: OW452872 Hardware: 8411 Firmware: Polaris - 6208 Date of Incident: [Insert Date] Total Mileage: 55 miles (nearly new)
Incident Description: Our OneWheel GT-s appears to have a serious safety defect related to its battery and controller. The unit charges only to 90% capacity, according to the app. After charging, when my son attempted to ride, the board initially struggled to engage balance mode. Once it did, within 3040 seconds, the unit began to beep with a low battery warning, despite showing 90% charge. It then abruptly pitched back and forced a complete stop.
We attempted to reset the charge by leaving it on the charger for a full day, verified the 90% reading again, and repeated the ride. The exact same failure occurred this time causing my son to fall and sustain injury due to the sudden stop.
At the time of the incident, diagnostics reported the following:
Battery Temperature: 75.2F Controller Temperature: 80.6F Motor Temperature: 73.4F
Hazard: The unit appears to falsely indicate sufficient charge while simultaneously triggering a shutdown protocol within minutes of use. The sudden, unannounced stop creates a high risk of serious injury to riders.
Outcome: My son was injured when the board abruptly powered down. The unit is unsafe and cannot be used.
Requested Action: We are requesting that the CPSC investigate this safety defect, as it may be systemic across the GT-s product line. The hazard mimics previously reported OneWheel nosedive incidents that have led to severe injuries and fatalities. We are willing to provide the defective unit for inspection.

First aid Made Mar 18, 2025, sent to the company Mar 21, 2025, published by CPSC Apr 4, 2025
The product, in the report: It is a onewheel GTS produced by the company future motion.
On March 13, 2025, I was riding my Onewheel GT, which I purchased from Future Motion. During my ride, the board displayed a notification indicating that it had 20% battery remaining and showed a blue light, signaling that it was safe to ride. However, shortly after I began riding, the board suddenly lost power without warning, causing me to be thrown forward onto the pavement.
As a result of this malfunction, I sustained severe bruising and a neck injury. When I contacted Future Motion to return the board, they declined my request and instead questioned me as if the incident were my fault.

No incident, no one hurt Made Mar 11, 2025, sent to the company Apr 8, 2025, published by CPSC Apr 22, 2025
The product, in the report: The Onewheel Pint, a self balancing one wheeled skateboard: https://onewheel.com/products/pint
The Onewheel Pint (a one wheeled self-balancing device like a skateboard) recently received a firmware update. There are numerous reports online of this update causing the board to malfunction and throw riders off. There are numerous reports of injuries and even hospitalizations. This firmware version has been out for weeks, Future Motion has received many reports of injury, and they have not rolled back the update nor communicated effectively with customers. This is going to kill someone eventually if Future Motion does not roll back the firmware update at a minimum.
See this forum post for numerous reports of malfunction and injury: [REDACTED]

No one hurt Made Oct 22, 2024, sent to the company Nov 12, 2024, published by CPSC Nov 26, 2024
The product, in the report: Future Motions OneWheel Pint X - an electric one-wheeled board vehicle that operates via onboard batteries. www.pintxflaw.com
Unsure where to go for help with a consumer product sold by a predatory company adhering to gross negligence in regard to a manufacturing defect around a dangerously powerful lithium battery.
Future Motions sells products under their label OneWheel. One specific model, the OneWheel Pint X, has a well documented manufacturing defect with the 56V onboard battery - specifically the battery’s balance lead wires. The plastic battery casing pinches and rubs the wires, causing them to tear and fray. This results in unsafe product operating conditions or complete product failure. Examples of this are product failure while riding, resulting in injury or death.
This issue is well documented here: [REDACTED]
Consumers have been struggling to get any kind of meaningful assistance from the company, Future Motion. Future Motion continues to deny any wrong-doing. Using scare tactics, they attempt in any way they can to ignore or deflect responsibility.
I own an effected product. They told me to mail it to them at my cost to have it inspected with no guarantee they would fix anything. This is after I opened the product and sent them photographic evidence of pinched wiring. Furthermore, they confirmed if I inspected for the defect myself that I would be ineligible for any assistance. That I would need to pay for a new battery.
This issue has been going on for several years now with hundreds of people confirming they’ve had tremendous frustration dealing with Future Motion and their lack of meaningful support on these expensive electric vehicles.
Is there anything we as consumers can do to hold this company accountable for this manufacturing defect that they blame on their customers?
Really, this should have been a recall years ago.

Emergency room Made Sep 4, 2024, sent to the company Sep 9, 2024, published by CPSC Sep 23, 2024
The product, in the report: The product is a **Future Motion Onewheel GT-S Series**, a personal electric mobility device designed for outdoor use. It has a single large wheel in the center, flanked by footpads on either side for balance and control. The Onewheel GT-S is marketed as an all-terrain electric skateboard capable of handling various surfaces, including pavement, grass, and light off-road environments. It is primarily used for recreational purposes and commuting. The board is **black and gray in color**, approximately **9.5 inches wide, 29 inches long**, and weighs around **35 pounds**. It is powered by a built-in lithium-ion battery and a motor housed inside the wheel. The GT-S model features a digital control system, including self-balancing technology and feedback via pushback and haptic buzz to alert riders of various operating conditions.
I am reporting a serious safety issue with the Onewheel, a personal electric mobility device manufactured by Future Motion. I experienced two significant crashes while using the product, resulting in physical injuries and loss of confidence in the products safety.
**Incident 1:**
I was riding the Onewheel over wet concrete, navigating shallow puddles as intended for outdoor use. While traveling at approximately 15 mph, the boards self-balancing system suddenly stopped working. The nose of the board dove into the ground, throwing me forward onto my right side. I sustained road rash on my leg, hand, arm, and shoulder, and a broken arm. My helmet also cracked upon impact. After the crash, the board was unresponsive and had condensation inside the casing, indicating water had entered the control board. The Onewheel is marketed as an outdoor product, and failure in such conditions raises serious safety concerns.
**Incident 2:**
After paying $180 to ship the board back to Future Motion for repairs, I received it and rode it once. During that ride, while stopped at a red light, the board unexpectedly accelerated on its own without any input from me. There was no haptic buzz, pushback, or other indication that the board would accelerate. This malfunction threw me off the board, re-injuring my already broken arm and furthering my distrust in the product. I had only ridden the board a short distance after receiving it from Future Motions repair shop.
**Product Information:**
The product is a personal electric mobility device known as a “Onewheel,” which is designed for outdoor use on various terrains. It was being used by me, an experienced rider, in everyday outdoor conditions.
**Injuries:**
Both incidents resulted in physical injuries. The first incident caused road rash and a broken arm, while the second crash reactivated my previous injuries. The second incident highlights an ongoing issue with the products reliability, posing a serious risk of further injury.
**Conclusion:**
These incidents suggest that the Onewheel has significant safety flaws. The first crash was due to water exposure despite claims that it is built for outdoor use, while the second crash occurred after the board had been serviced by the manufacturer. Given the physical injuries Ive experienced, this product presents a serious risk to consumers.

The product, in the report: This was a OneWheel Pint electric skateboard. Here is a link to the page: https://onewheel.com/pages/pint
I am the owner of a OneWheel(brand) Pint(model) electric skateboard. One day when riding, the skateboard shut off and refused to turn back on. I thought it just required a charge so I took it home and plugged it in. I left it plugged in over night thinking it was dead. The next day I attempted to turn it on and it behaved the same as before; I couldnt get it to turn on. Minutes later the board started to smoke. I picked it up and threw it outside. 15 seconds later it started billowing smoke and after a while flames shot out from the side. No one was hurt but if I had not have been there when it started smoking I believe the house would have burnt down.

Future motion taking away safety features We use to be able to use a 3rd party app to be able to see our individual cell voltages and make sure they were within safe operating range, We use to be able to use the onewheel app to see overall voltage to make sure our boards were operating correctly
Future motion has since enables updates that cause our boards to no longer connect to the 3rd party app to be able to see individual cell voltages and has since taken the feature of seeing overall battery voltage away from their own application
This makes the product alot less safe not knowing whether our cells are within a safe operating range, we just have to assume that they are, I have seen plenty of instances where this has led to problems

The product, in the report: Future Motion Onewheel Pint X
There is a known and ignored safety issue with the batteries on Future Motion’s OneWheel Pint X. The battery box that contains the large, dangerous lithium ion battery has sharp edges that crimp the battery wires. This can cause errors, the rider to be thrown off the board, or fires. Every Pint X that has been opened appears to have damaged wires. They are boards that show damage upon opening the box that just after arrival directly from the manufacturer. Future Motion refuses to recall, refund, or repair the root cause of the issue. They are assuring customers there is nothing wrong, but also told me in an email “Our leadership is investigating the production of new battery units to ensure they are built safely and within tolerance”. They are clearly aware that there is an issue, but are refusing to take action. This is all being documented at [REDACTED]

I was riding the Onewheel, well within my abilities when at ten miles an hour it suddenly came to a stop and I was slammed to the ground. I am certain if not for my helmet I would have been killed or at least had an extremely serious TBI. I also hurt my entire right side and at first thought my elbow might have been broken. I am an avid snowboarder (ex-instructor) and skateboarder and know and accept the normal risk associated with board sports. I had had a few pretty bad falls prior while riding Onewheel but fully admit those were due to operator error. The last fall was absolutely a problem with faulty equipment. Future motion ran a remote diagnostic, declared the product fine, and refused to issue a refund.

The board unsafely started rolling backwards instead of immediately stopping. This caused a wobble and then I crashed. The product, in the report: OneWheel Pint
OneWheel Pint shutdown at 5-8 mph: This is the description I submitted to OneWheel support: Hi. This morning my pint quit while I was travelling 5-8 mph on a mowed lawn. The battery was 60-70%. I fell off forwards and sustained only a sore shoulder (lawn is soft thankfully). Having used this onewheel for several hundred miles, this event shocked me. I remounted the onewheel and proceeded (cautiously) to have the same experience (without falling) at ~4mph. I rebooted the device and proceeded to ride it at ~4mph for about 50 yards without any shutdown.
Has this phenomenon been described? Is there a fix? I am reluctant to ride it until I hear from you.
Thank you,

This caused me to (1) break my lower leg, and (2) both break and dislocate my ankle. This was NOT the result of me ignoring the “pushback” feature - there was never any pushback, the board simply turned off and nosedived without warning. The board had a nearly full battery at the time of the incident.

I purchased my Onewheel GT back in November and have been enjoying using it despite having a constant fear that I will fall off the board. Early morning on Feb. 2nd, I was riding my Onewheel to the park and going at roughly 15 miles an hour(Onewheel GT is advertised with a top speed of 20mph), when the board immediately threw my off the board and fell on the ground. Safety features of the board is set to default. The board did not beep or give any indication that something was wrong. I sustained multiple open wounds on my face, both hands, left arm and hips, and both knees. Paramedics came on the scene and treated me and placed bandages on the wounds to stop the bleeding.

I own a 2020 XR OneWheel. I was using the product and fell over the front breaking my hip. I strongly believe I was ejected from the product. I had completed a left turn on to my street. My house is the second on the right. I had completed accelerating, came within feet of my home and flew forward. I do not know my exact speed and assume it was <10 mph. I have owned the board for 20 months and have 178 miles on it. I have skateboarded for 40 years. One second I am riding casually, the next I am sliding across the pavement. I have reported the incident to Future Motion and sent diagnostics. They were responsive. However, indicate they see no issues with the product. I am not convinced.

The product, in the report: OneWheel + made by Future in Motion. It is an electric skate board where power is given by leaning forward or backward on the board itself.
I have a OneWheel+ and was riding it on around my neighborhood when out of nowhere the board shut off while I was riding at about 15MPH. I tried to run out of the crash but ended up tearing my hamstring and tumbling to a stop. I had many cuts and bruises all over my body and could not work for about a week. I reached out to the company (Future in motion) to see if there was a recall or software upgrade I had missed. I was told that the board does not just shut off while riding and that I need to be more careful when riding. Basically they told me I must have lifted my foot cause the shut off and that there was nothing they would do for it.

I was riding a One Wheel GT in the manor described in the manual. It was new and I was trying to be careful. At one point it started going faster and faster. I could not get it to slow down. At full speed all the sudden it ejected me. I landed on my right hand, hip, side, and shoulder. I was taken to the hospital. I had to pay for X-rays and CT scan. luckily nothing was broken but my hip was extremely bruised and ligaments damaged. The pain was very bad. I was on crutches for almost 2 months. After that it took months of physical therapy to slowly regain the ability to walk, run, etc.

The product, in the report: Future Motion One Wheel GT
Have been thrown from my Future Motion OneWheel GT several times now during routine use. The 1st series of falls happened a couple months ago. The 1st was when going uphill. The nose did not hit as far as I know. I powered it back on and continued my ride VERY CAUTIOUSLY. On a flat road less than 5 minutes later with no bumps traveling maybe 7-10 mph it suddenly stopped. Thankfully I was paranoid and ready so I landed on my feet. After that I was not willing to ride it. I got the recall, installed the footpad then just this week went out again. VERY CAUTIOUSLY. On a flat road again maybe 12-15 mph no where near top speed on a flat road it stopped and this time I did not land on my feet.

One wheel stops suddenly ejecting the rider from the board. My son is 9 years old and approximately 55 pounds. We have two different year models of the PINT product. The one model (older) seems to work fine, but the newer model seems to not recognize his body weight at times and will stop suddenly presumably because it doesn’t feel a rider on the board. We came to this conclusion because my husband also rides the same board without any issues.

I’ve been riding a onewheel product for about 2 years (~1,000 miles total on three different products). I’m proficient but not reckless - I use it for errands in my neighborhood and to go with my daughter when she’s on her bike. I was running an errand - leaving my house and just starting to accelerate. I had gone about 20-30 feet from my driveway and was at about 7-8 mph. It suddenly vibrated for a split second then stopped, ejecting me. I managed to get about 3 steps in before falling. I landed on my left wrist and it shattered my elbow (3 breaks - a Monteggia fracture, to be specific. I’ve never been in so much pain in my life. Long recovery ahead (3-12 months).

This caused me to crash and I was injured enough I had to go to the hospital. Luckily no broken bones but I destroyed my helmet, shirt and sunglasses and have a huge bruise to my hip and foot. The crash caused a Morel-Lavallee Lesion which had to be drained by a general surgeon. I had emailed the company right after I got the board at the end of 2020 that it was having momentary split second power losses while riding. They said it was fine.

The product, in the report: oneWheel Pint, by future motion. Purchased in 2020.
I recently fractured my wrist after my oneWheel pint stopped short, without providing pushback while riding ~15mph on packed sand. The board’s battery was just under ~40% at the time, with just under than 2000 miles ridden so far. The stop / motor shutoff was so abrupt that I could not run it out. I caught my fall with my face and hand, and I now face the next 2 months with my dominant hand in a cast with a fractured scaphoid in my right wrist.
Because the app does not provide ride diagnostic information about pushbacks that were triggered, I’m unable to determine why the board stopped, although I assume it is because of a reason that should have triggered pushback.
I wanted to report this incident because I don’t think the oneWheel provides enough details in app to prevent or diagnose this kind of shutoff. I understand how the board is supposed to work, but if the single safety feature meant to prevent over-exerting the board is not triggered or goes unnoticed, a fall is almost guaranteed. I would consider myself an experienced rider.

The product, in the report: Future Motion OneWheel+
I’ve owned four models of OneWheel and have ridden them since the v1 came out. I have lots of experience with pushback and know how to ride my OneWheels. I can confidently state that the two times I experienced being “dropped” were not my pushing through pushback. I alerted FutureMotion when it happend and they denied any issue with the board. It is the only of the 4 boards I’ve had this issue with and I know it was not my riding. One time I had just started off, hadn’t even made it 10’ and wasn’t anywhere near the speeds where pushback would occur, I started going and after ~8’ it just dropped the nose and I was on the ground. The other time I was riding along the levy by the river and going under a bridge, there was no pushback, the board just stopped. I have let FutureMotion know when seeing class action suits that I strongly believe they should look deeper at a malfunction in their boards and not write off this issue but they continue to deny it. I love the OneWheels and completely agree it is a risky sport and one should always wear protection. I am also convinced that some of the boards are defective and can randomly stop. Mine was a OneWheel+ model, but I’m sure 9x% of the Plus model and all OneWheel models are probably fully functional, but there is a percentage that are not.

Onewheel pint X suddenly stopped with plenty of battery life remaining while I was safely crossing a major street at less than 10 mph and ejected me on to the middle of the street. Due to scrapes and hitting the ground with force, I sustained significant scrapes, bruises, and mental trauma.
Created a ticket with Onewheel - [REDACTED] - sent it in and they found nothing wrong with it. It has happened over and over again since. I just don’t let the battery go down lower than 50% and ride it sparingly. I wish they would simply own up to the battery failure and replace it. However, they do everything in their power to not replace a defective product.

On one of those rides I had to jump off the board to avoid entering an intersection with car traffic. Fortunately I wasn’t seriously injured but a less athletic person would not be so lucky. The other two incidents I was able to self balance long enough to slow down a bit and jump off. However, I’m a lifelong skate and snowboarder and again a less athletic person could have crashed hard.

The product, in the report: Future Motion’s Onewheel self-balancing electric skateboard. The board I purchased was a Onewheel GT with Treaded Tire, Grey and black, but added the wheel cover and side emblems.
I purchased a Future Motion’s Onewheel self-balancing GT electric skateboard about a year ago December 2021. Received it around April 2022. Used it to get between my warehouses for several months. On September 24th 2022 I decided to take it faster than I usually do. During acceleration around 10-12mph the self balancing feature gave out ejecting me from the board. I took a few steps, but couldn’t keep up with the speed, took a roll and broke my clavicle. I have a video from the warehouse camera of the event happening. Proof in medical records etc.

The product, in the report: Onewheel XR. A self balancing board with a single large wheel in the center.
I was ejected from my Onewheel. While riding at roughly 20 mph the board shut down without warning causing me to launch from the board and slide across the asphalt. I was left with numerous road rash patches on my body, torn clothing and a shredded backpack. Luckily I was able to keep my head from smashing on the ground, otherwise I may have died or suffered serious brain trauma

My onewheel xr quit on me while i was travelling at about 13 MPH, resulting in a crash and a torn up knee. The mobile app showed “error 23”, which apparently is a rare but known issue from Future Motion. When i reached out to the their suggestion was to see if it happened again, and then send the board in for diagnostics. Not very reassuring

I got a Onewheel Pint for Christmas about 2-3 years ago. A few months later, I was ejected from it when I was going uphill and experienced “pushback” from it (I think it was a combo of speed and the angle of the hill). I got serious road rash, and landed on my bottom. My butt was seriously bruised, and I had to see a doc and get an x ray to make sure my organs were okay.

Emergency room Made Nov 16, 2022, sent to the company Nov 18, 2022, published by CPSC Dec 5, 2022
The product, in the report: Onewheel Pint X, completely stock. No modifications or significant damage.
I was riding my Onewheel on a walking trail when I was ejected, and was transported via ambulance to the ER as I took major damage to my head including vision loss in my left eye. I was wearing a skateboarding helmet, and being intentionally cautious to not push limits as I was still rather new to the sport with only 87 miles ridden.
I have no memory of the accident itself. I took a picture of the Onewheel about 20 minutes prior to the accident, and afterwards, had returned to the walking trail I had already traversed on the Onewheel.
I was riding on a flat, paved path away from car traffic. I didn’t observe any significant terrain issues, bumps, edges, or other obstacles which would have posed a problem for the Onewheel. I was being sure not to push the limits, and was familiar with “pushback” the device generates when it is operating past its limits.
While I do not believe I would have ignored that feedback, I have amnesia of the accident itself. I remember being on a country road, safely getting off the Onewheel, and taking a picture at 5:05 PM of the Onewheel as I was enjoying my ride. My memory ends after getting back on, and riding back towards the walking trail. Between 5:22 and 5:24, I took 4 photos showing my head damaged and covered in blood. I have zero memory of taking these pictures, and not sure exactly when or where the accident happened. Metadata of those photos shows the exact location of the walking trail where they were taken.
I was transported by ambulance to the local ER. My memory resumes in the back of the ambulance, informing the paramedics that I couldn’t see out of my left eye. They claim I had lost consciousness at some point, but didn’t know details of how my accident was reported. I don’t know a detailed timeline due to memory loss.
The ER informed me I had 4 fractures to my left orbital/sinus, and Traumatic Optic Neuropathy (TON). I was transferred to another hospital at about 2 AM to see specialists. Multiple ophthalmologist have confirmed that this damage is likely to be permanent, and I will never regain vision in my left eye.
The only thing that really makes sense is despite my caution, I somehow experienced a “nosedive”, which Onewheel claims only happens after dramatically ignoring pushback functions. There are no other warnings or indicators thar you’re about to nosedive. I weigh 230 pounds which is within the operating limits the manufacturer reports. The app also documents I have never gone above 16 MPH in the 87 miles it’s logged. Its documented speed limit is 18 MPH.

I was thrown from my Onewheel XR the day before Thanksgiving 2019. I broke my arm.
I was riding the Onewheel on a bike trail near my house. I had just started moving on the board, probably 10MPH, when the board took a nose dive for no apparent reason. I reported it to Future Motion and they told me I must have done something wrong as there was no problems seen in their diagnostics. I haven’t ridden it much since as I do not trust it.

There is a major safety issue with future motion Onewheel gt electric personal vehicle. There are two main issues that are happening to many people all over the county. 1. Unit shutdown with out notice and throws the driver to the ground. 2. Unit does not stop when it is needed and keeps going even though the driver jumped out of it. Please see this video [REDACTED]. The second safety issue happened to me while riding the board. I stretched my leg when boats when r out of control. I decided to report it because there are many similar incidents that happens all over the country and Future Motion do not do anything about.

I recently purchased a Onewheel skateboard. I was using the product. Onewheel put out a statement in the form of a reply to a comment where they stated that if the battery is disconnected it could “blow up you (sic) house.” I am concerned because in a promotional video, they had stunt doubles doing dangerous activities on their boards. If the battery is accidentally disconnected, I am concerned that my family and friends may be set on fire because of this device.

The product, in the report: This is a copy of the ticket I sent to the company. I had my first experience with the board running on it’s own. The board has 36 miles on it, only been cruising roads so far and getting used to the board. I went to dismount and as I step off the tire starts going full speed. Luckily it popped a curb and landed on its side, turned it off and on then worked normally. I have not ridden the board since in fear of it doing that again. It could hit a car, a house, another person, I go on rides with my 5 year old son (he bikes) and I’m worried it could take off and hit him. Have you had other feedback regarding this issue with the GT? I’m hoping this is covered by the warranty if anything needs to be replaced. I absolutely love the board, the ride is incredible and literally feels like snowboarding on land. Being a Colorado transplant in Maryland, having this board has truly improved my quality of life. Thank you for your support!! The product is a OneWheel. An electric snowboard basically with one wheel in the middle and two foot pads on either end. Hurt, no treatment Made Mar 30, 2022, sent to the company Apr 4, 2022, published by CPSC Apr 18, 2022
The product, in the report: The product is a self balancing single wheeled PEV (personal electric vehicle) called the Onewheel. https://onewheel.com/products/xr Hardware version: 4212 Software version: Gemini- 4155
I rode my Onewheel XR, by Future Motion (the firm) and the front end of the PEV board nose dived and ejected me off the board while I was going less than 8 mph with a battery charge at more than 50%. It was windy so I was just going along against the wind which provided some resistance. I landed on the pavement and got lacerations on my left wrist, left knee, and right knee. I also sustained bruises on my left hand and both my knees and hip. The only way the product lets you know you are about to overload the hub motor, which keeps the board self balancing, is by subtlety raising the front end of the board up (The firm calls this “push back” and this wasn’t very noticeable when it is very windy and providing lost of wind resistance). There is no audible noise or light indicator informing the user they are getting close to the hub motor’s upper torque limit.
I also had a Onewheel Pint (another model by this firm) and had the same nose dive issue occur while I was going up a steep hill. I did not notice any “push back”. When that incident occurred, I landed on my wrists and bruised both of my wrists and sustained some road rash on both of my wrists.

Caller stated that the information given is that if the app is uploaded it gives you a faster speed, however, he never uploaded the app and the speed was going about 24 mph. The caller contacted the company and reported the incident. Caller feels that this skateboard is a safety hazard and should be reported.

No incident, no one hurt Made Jan 11, 2021, sent to the company Feb 3, 2021, published by CPSC Feb 18, 2021
The product, in the report: Onewheel A self-balancing electric powered personal transportation device looking a little like a skateboard but with a 11-inch tire in the center. Model Onewheel XR
I purchased the Onewheel XR and it arrived last week. The safety flaw comes when the product either is pushed beyond the limits of product or if there is a failure in the computerized system. When either thing happens, the board immediately shuts down and the board tips forward at about 45-degree angle. This product reaches 20 mph.. As an example; please consider riding a normal four-wheeled skateboard: When it becomes necessary to bail off a skateboard, it is possible to jump off and outrun the fall because the skateboard remains level. But, the Onewheel tips forward at high speeds during a catastrophic failure (which can be caused by exceeding the product’s capability-and if this happens it’s at highest speed, 20+mph and suddenly it tips forward at the extreme angle and results in catapulting the rider headfirst into the groun). This is a fatal flaw as people have died because of this obvious flaw. Please refer to a huge number of [REDACTED] videos that clearly demonstrate the inherent danger associated with this terrible design flaw and safety hazard.
