No one hurt Made Dec 2, 2021, sent to the company Dec 6, 2021, published by CPSC Dec 20, 2021
The product, in the report: Hover board
Hover board started to over heat and smell in a house. The fmaily noticed the smell and called 911 before it caught fire. The unit was bought in October 2021 at Best Buy in Bend. It had been used that morning and then plugged back in. The right wheel was nearly 200 degs when the fire department arrived. No fire damaged noted. Advised to not use the unit anymore and call the manufacture/retailer about it.
Report update 12/20/21 - The heat was from the wheel area on the side nearest the charging cable plug in. The heat was in the wheel, not the main body of the board. The batteries would have been the source of the heat in that area.

The product, in the report: All we know is that is was a hover board.
The [REDACTED] Fire Department was dispatched to [REDACTED] to a possible structure fire. Upon arrival, it was found that the fire was contained in an unopened garage and had consumed all the oxygen and gone out. The area of origin of the fire was where two hover boards were plugged into the wall. One hover board caught on fire and was completely consumed and the other sustained damage to the cord and burn marks. Items around it were burned but luckily were flame resistant.
