No one hurt Made Oct 16, 2026, sent to the company Oct 21, 2026, published by CPSC Nov 4, 2026
The product, in the report: Pink electric kick scooter with black folding stem, 8.5-inch solid tires, front and rear lights, and a thumb throttle with LED speed display. Rated 290W motor (350W max), 36V 7.8Ah lithium-ion battery, 265 lb max load, top speed listed as 19 mph. Folds for carrying, about 30.8 lbs. Connects to the [REDACTED] app. Listed on Amazon as WERHY Electric Scooter, color Pink Yellow.
My 11-year-old daughter was riding a brand-new electric scooter (sold on Amazon as a WERHY 350W scooter) in our neighborhood when it suddenly lost all power mid-ride with no warning and no error code on the display. It would not restart, and she had to call her mother to come pick her up. The scooter started working again hours later, but since then it has shut off on its own repeatedly, at random, during normal riding. This began within the first week of use, with about 25 miles on it.
A sudden loss of power at speed could throw a rider forward, especially a child carrying a heavy backpack. No injury has occurred so far, but we stopped letting her ride it because of the risk.
The scooter carries no brand name, model number, or serial number anywhere on the unit, label, or manual, even though the listing photos show WERHY branding. It connects to a generic [REDACTED] app. The seller suggested a loose internal wiring harness but would not replace it and asked me to disassemble it myself.
