The product, in the report: Swagtron SG-5 Swagger 5 Boost Commuter Electric Scooters
I bought my grandson a Swagtron SG-5 Swagger 5 Boost Commuter Electric Scooters for his birthday. He was writing it to school one morning and he handlebars folded down on him and he went over the handlebars and did a face plant into the cement hitting a curb with his head he got road rash all over him, a huge lump on his head, and the scooters body folded in on the wheel it has the motor in it making it no longer workable he had to drag it home. Walmart has notified me that it has been recalled they notified me in October. Walmart’s website says they give full refunds to any recall they get and I’m still fighting them about it I still haven’t received a refund they keep telling me they’re going to the tell me within 24 hours this has been 3 months of this going on now on a weekly basis. Luckily my grandson wasn’t run over by a car to top it all off with but it could have easily happened.

Emergency room Made Nov 7, 2024, sent to the company Nov 14, 2024, published by CPSC Nov 29, 2024
The product, in the report: Swagtron SG-5 Swagger 5 Boost Commuter App-Enabled Electric Scooter with Upgraded 300W Motor and 1-Click Quick Folding, Silver
I saw a recall for the Swagtron SG-5 scooter for risk of fire and felt the need to report an incident I experienced. While riding on the scooter, the mechanism that was supposed to secure the top/handle part of the scooter disconnected after crossing a storm grate, and caused me to fall/crash at the max speed. I was then taken to the emergency room for fear I’d injured my neck and back. Imaging showed I did not injure my neck but did cause swelling and thus agrivation of a healed back injury that I was unaware of. I also had some pretty bad road rash on my shoulder which took approx 9 days to fully heal. The next day I started feeling pain in the knee, and hand and arm that took the brunt of the fall. No additional structural damage was found through x-rays, but I was sent for 7 weeks of physical therapy. The back and knee still cause significant pain often.

No one hurt Made Oct 29, 2024, sent to the company Nov 1, 2024, published by CPSC Nov 25, 2024
The product, in the report: Adult electric scooter swagger 5- 320 lb weight limit, color: black, UL 2272 certified..two of these were purchased months apart from one another & both were disabled within 3 months or so after purchase.
I purchased two swagtron scooters months apart from one another. Ive been having error problems for the both which didnt allow one to charge. The handle bars popped out of place while my child was riding & it would always get very hot!- both were no longer working after only having them roughly 3 months. Ive tried to get an exchange, but was unable to so i had no choice but to remain with the two disabled scooters hoping they would work again. I finally tried for a refund and was told my window had expired- i feel as if i wasted my money & my kids were cheated out of promised enjoyment. Now that i received an email about the dangers of using the very scooters i complained about i hope something can finally be done.

Hello. My son had just charged his Swagtron SG-5 electric scooter and put it in the back seat of my [REDACTED] [because he wanted to ride it over at a friend’s house. We made it 2 blocks and we started smelling like plastic burning smell. My son said dad the scooter is smoking so I pulled over and by the time we got out the back seat was on fire. Emergency room Made Sep 5, 2023, sent to the company Nov 7, 2023, published by CPSC Nov 22, 2023
The product, in the report: Swagertron SG5 motorized scooter
I had a horrible accident on June 8, 2022, where I was riding the Swagertron SGS (SGS) on a residential street, when all of a sudden the handle (the one with the brake handle) fell of and caused me to crash. I couldn’t move my leg, and I was in excruciating pain. I had to call a family member to help me and I was taken immediately to the hospital emergency room. Long story short, I was sent home on crutches, the pain was worse, which caused a second fall and a second trip to emergency, where not only was another x-ray was done but this time a MRI was done, which revealed that my knee was broken in two places. I’ve been trying to get assistance regarding this matter but I honestly didn’t know where to turn. I tried the Consumer Financial Protection bureau, but nothing was done. So, I’m trying to get assistance with you regarding this product and problem. Please find enclosed my copy of a demand letter to the manufacturer of the scooter. Any assistance regarding this matter would help.
