The product, in the report: Ninebot black scooter
My son was at school ([REDACTED] last spring) when he was crossing the street when, all of a sudden, the scooter stopped, causing him to fall. He was in great pain and was able to get up and scoot off the street. He had a friend drive him back to Foster City, CA, to seek medical care from [REDACTED], his healthcare provider in Redwood City. His leg was swollen, and he was unable to return to school. He was able to contact all of his professors with a doctor’s note to excuse him. His knee was swollen for at last 3 weeks and unable to walk on campus.

Emergency room Made Jul 16, 2023, sent to the company Jul 18, 2023, published by CPSC Aug 1, 2023
The product, in the report: Ninebot KickScooter Max G2 https://store.segway.com/ninebot-kickscooter-max-g2
While riding the Segway ninebot max G2 at a speed of 8-11 miles an hour on a clear dry sidewalk, I let off the throttle to slow and the scooter instead accelerated. As it accelerated there was some sort of wobble in the tire /handle bars and I crashed breaking my elbow, hurting my neck and wrist. It happened very quickly, so quickly I didn’t have time to attempt to break and fight the acceleration. I had picked up my preordered scooter only four days before and had 3 days of exceptional riding. It has been called ghost or phantom acceleration on multiple forums, [REDACTED] being one of them.
I have been cautiously riding electric scooters for four years and have never seen or experienced anything so horrifying. I was able to return my scooter to Best Buy last night for a full refund.
