I bought an electric scooter for my boyfriend on Thursday March 19th. We charged it on friday for the full 5 hours it says to in the instructions. My boyfriend took it out for a ride on Saturday following all of the safety instructions listed in the manual. It performed subpar with far less miles ran than it said it should then died without warning him the battery was low. He chose to plug it in for the second time once he finished walking it home. It had been charging for 2 and a half of the 5 hour required time when he heard a pop. Thankfully he got over to it as the scooter started smoking. Very shortly after it was brought outside and the fire department was called it burst into flames entirely. We were told by the fire fighters that the entire 6 townhome complex most likely would have burnt down if my boyfriend hadn’t gotten the scooter outside before the fire started

The product, in the report: Hover-1 Journey 2.0 Electric Scooter (Model: H1-JNY2)
Hover-1 Journey 2.0 Electric Scooter (Model: H1-JNY2) Brand name: Hover-1 Model Number: H1-JNY2 Manufacturer: DGL Group, Ltd. (typically listed as Hover-1s parent company) Retailer: Amazon Purchase date: 8/18/2024
While the Hover-1 Journey 2.0 scooter was charging indoors using the original manufacturer-supplied charger (Model CH-2415), the connector began to melt and subsequently caught fire. This caused burn damage to the charger itself, our daughter’s scooter, and the garage floor epoxy.
Thankfully, no one was injured, but the incident posed a serious fire hazard and could have escalated dangerously had we not intervened. Photos clearly show burn damage to the scooter charging port, melted plastic on the charger, and a scorched epoxy garage surface.
No physical injuries, but property damage and potential fire risk.

The product, in the report: Hover-1 Dynamo Electric Skootet Black
I received a Hover-2 Dynamo scooter from my husband in February of this year. I was out, riding the scooter s couple weeks ago, and the scooter would not stop. I try to press the brakes several times it would not stop if I press the Excelerator button it will go faster. I kept trying to press the break it would not stop. I had to jump off of it while I was going 11 miles an hour. I held onto the handlebar so that it would not hit anybody. I was able to hold down on the ground, at this time, the wheel caused a skid marks in my neighbors driveway. I was able to pick up the scooter while it was still running. I took it to my home. I took it to my home and laid it on top of some thing until it stop. At this time it was running at 7 mph. I sent a request to the manufacturer of Hover-1, on several occasions. They finally responded back and said because 90 days have passed they would no longer cover it. After I persisted on speaking to a supervisor, I received an email telling me to remove the plate from the electrical box underneath it and adjust the throttle. I am not going to do that. It is dangerous, because there is already a danger sticker on it because they are electrical parts underneath it.

The product, in the report: Black Hover-1 Comet Electric Scooter
We purchased a Hover-1 Comet electric scooter from Walmart in November of 2021. My daughter didn’t receive the gift until Christmas. Due to the inclement weather and snow, my daughter could not ride the scooter until mid to late February. My daughter was riding it for approximately the 5th time when the front wheel assembly came apart causing an accident. I contacted Hover-1 support which is a subsidiary of the DGL Group out of New Jersey. They refused to assist and address the manufacturers safety defect. They indicated they needed a receipt. I went into Walmart 2 times but the service people could not find my receipt. So I began to research their scooters more and what I found is startling. Numerous people have had the same defect causing an accident. I looked at reviews on [REDACTED], Walmart, and [REDACTED] all showing similar pictures of their front wheel assembly coming apart. These reviews also provided insight into their plight of attempting to have their scooter warranted by the DGL Group. All of them provide experiences of the DGL Group refusing to acknowledge the safety defect. After seeing numerous reports of these manufacturer defects which caused accidents and the DGL Group’s refusal to address this issue, I researched to find out if there was any government regulatory group that could help with safety recalls for obvious reasons. I have opened reports with the BBB, the Consumer Protection Agency of NJ, and now with this group.

The product, in the report: Hover-1 Dynamo electric scooter
This is about the Hover-1 Dynamo electric scooter. When freewheeling downhill, a software malfunction occurs causing the device controls to stop working and the electric motor to keep running on its own non-stop with no way for the operator to turn off the motor or stop the scooter since the braking system is also operated by the software. This happened multiple times under the exact same conditions.

Hey [REDACTED]
We ran the fire this morning (11/23/2021) at [REDACTED]. It was. Hover-1 scooter. Plugged in at the time. Unknown how long it was plugged in. Family members stated it had been purchased from Best Buy some time ago. It has not worked “in a long time” (possibly one year?). One of the teenagers had plugged it back in at some point more recently in an attempt to get it working again. Scooter was located in the detached garage of a townhome. I am attaching the two pics I have on my phone. I will send more when I download the evidence pics. Feel free to call my cell to discuss.

The product, in the report: Hover-1 Pioneer Electric Folding Scooter, Black with 8.5? Air-Filled Tires, LED Headlight, Digital Display, Electronic throttle, 14 MPH
I bought a Hover 1 Pioneer scooter last December, and it has had an ongoing sticky throttle issue. I didn’t use the scooter often enough in the beginning to notice the issue, however, recently I have been using the scooter a little more and noticed every time I use the scooter the throttle sticks while accelerating, causing unintended acceleration. I have since had a flat tire, and when I went to remove the screws for the wheel, I found both the screw heads stripped. Seems Hover 1 has a quality control issue, along with a serious safety issue that could easily lead to an accident causing great bodily harm, even death. I went to their website, and found a notice they posted in regards to the sticky throttle. I followed their instruction, including the [REDACTED], however their “fix” was unsuccessful: You can find the link here: https://www.hover-1.com/troubleshoot then go under “Journey and Pioneer”, then click on “The Throttle is sticking” to see their posted “fix” I have since fixed the tube, which seemed inferior in quality, and replaced the stripped screws with new ones, however I have used the scooter anymore, since I have been afraid of the unintended acceleration issue. I believe this is a widespread issue with this product, in which they refuse to take seriously. I have already reached out to their company several times, and this is their response, along with the ticket #:

The product, in the report: Hover 1 Rally E Scooter https://www.hover-1.com/hover1-l5-specs
The Hover 1 Rally electric scooter (see https://www.hover-1.com/hover1-l5-specs) has a design flaw regarding the steering of the electric scooter. The metal stem that leads from the front steering tire up into the handles that give the rider steering control is secured using a very thin piece of plastic. Both the wheel stem and handle bar assembly are metal. Once this small plastic bracket breaks from use (my sons scooter broke after just 5 months of use while he was riding on a public sidewalk and was fortunate enough the scooter veered off into grass opposite the moving traffic in the street) the rider completely loses steering of the scooter. This can have very bad consequences for the rider considering these are usually ridden on public sidewalks and roadways sharing space with or in very close proximity to traffic. I have contacted the company with the issue and all they want to do is replace the plastic bracket with a new one. This is a serious design flaw that needs corrected with an appropriately designed metal bracket to ensure riders maintain control of the scooter at all times. The scooter has a folding design which likely leads to the stressing of the plastic bracket and eventual breakage. That and use of the scooter over sidewalks and streets with bumps and expansion joints which transmit energy up through the wheel into the bracket that is clamping the steering column into the wheel stem also stresses the plastic bracket.

The product, in the report: Hover-1 ALL-STAR Electric Scooter
Our dept, [REDACTED], responded to the report of a structure fire. Upon arrival we found a Hover-1 had ignited and the owner had extinguished. The device either shorted out internally or more likely suffered a failure due to the fact that the owner plugged the wrong charger into the unit that failed. The resident owned two different models and the plugs for the chargers are identical but have different charging rates. It is most likely that this caused the failure.

The product, in the report: Hover Journey-1 white electric scooter, two wheels
My son was riding his Hover Journey 1 Electric Scooter when the handle broke loose. The weld at the handle bar broke which caused my son to wreck his scooter. He sustained minor cuts, scapes, road rash and bruises. I am thankful that he wasn’t injured more than what he was. I correspond with Hover-1 DGL Grop about getting the scooter repaired since it was within their 90 day warranty but the refused to repair the scooter. I sent pictures of the broken weld and they advised it was physical damage and that they were not responsible. I asked them how would a 10 year old child physically damage a faulty weld. The scooter is suppose to be able to hold a 264 lb grown man. I checked for a recall and found that only [REDACTED] Scooters and [REDACTED] Product had actually done a recall for the exact same issue. I informed Hover 1 that [REDACTED] had replaced and repaired the scooter due to several children getting severely injured. I am afraid without the recall that a child/person would get severely injured or even killed without a required safety standard for replacing the weld. I had a certified welder look at the weld and he advised that it was in fact a faulty weld. Please help I just want my sons $301.00 scooter fixed. I even offered to pay shipping both ways but they also wanted me to pay $45.00 for a disassemble fee. I advised them that the scooter was within their 90 day warranty but they refused.
