The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

The product, in the report: Peg puzzle- ballerina dress up

A couple of weeks ago, I purchased a Melissa & Doug ballerina dress-up mix and match peg puzzle, number DW10310, from Learning Express. The puzzle is rated for age 2, which is supposed to mean it’s not considered a choke hazard. Within less than an hour, our 20 month old managed to get some of the stickers off the puzzle pieces (I didn’t even know they were stickers- they look just like painted wood). I removed these pieces from her. However, a few days later, she was able to bite a small piece of one of the other puzzle pieces off, and was gagging on it. Luckily my husband was able to dislodge the piece from her throat, but that’s scary. I don’t feel this item is safe for children anywhere near age 2. I also don’t think this product is of “solid wood construction,” as advertised on the back. I have a photo of the piece she bit off, which I’ve e-mailed to Melissa & Doug customer support.
