The product, in the report: Boxed playset includes red plastic barn that opens on self-hinge, a sheet of stickers, finger puppets of farmer, chick, duckling, gosling, rabbit, lamb, piglet, donkey, calf & pony. Moving parts include the halves of the barn swinging open to reveal two-story interior, double front doors, three gates to back stables, & swiveling spiral staircase up to hayloft. The box front says, “12m+”. A chart on the back of the box says, “Age grade: Over 12 Months. A haltingly translated blurb appears above the UPC advising, “Please use to avoid the risk of accidental ingestion.” Under the UPC , a tagline says, “1 2 3 Years Old Boys and Girls”. The Amazon ad featured the word Toddler. Box Dimensions: 9.8 x 8.5 x 4.8 inches. Websites are searchable under Spring Flower Montessori Farm Animals, however this online report form will not accept a cut & paste of the web eddress. One photo in the ad shows a baby holding up hands with the finger puppets & the barn with stickers applied. Others show older toddlers. One photo has a heading with the misspelling “Fram” instead of Farm. The same barn set is also sold as a toddler toy branded [REDACTED], claiming to be “Safe for Kids.”
SpringFlower Toddler Toy Big Barn farm playset was ordered from Amazon on Thursday, June 11th (see photo of toy order & delivery confirmation dates). Barn began to come apart immediately with ordinary play by 15-month-old granddaughter, sitting on carpet, putting animals into barn. The two sides of the barn unhinged from each other & front doors easily came off. We reassembled & carefully supervised play (stickers were never applied bcz they are a toddler hazard). When further moving parts were easily detached, family members undertook research for recall. SpringFlower Toddler Toy Big Barn was not in itself recorded as a recall by that name, however yesterday we discovered that the barn, farmer, animals & stickers are all identical to the recalled toddler farm named [REDACTED] (see recall photo). The only difference is the product name. The photo of the identical playset on the USCPSC site does not show the back side of the barn with the “fence handles” that caused the recall (see photo of table below, with the following small parts from our set that we easily popped off). In addition to the brown “fence handle” gates, the similarly scaled white window frames are also choking hazards when pulled off the barn, as is the white silo top. The brown log steps to the hayloft may not seem small enough to be swallowed, however, they were easily slid off of the slender brown pole on which they were stacked, & the pole itself is most definitely a tempting choking hazard for teething toddlers.
