No incident, no one hurt Made Oct 31, 2023, sent to the company Nov 16, 2023, published by CPSC Dec 1, 2023
The product, in the report: Secura Automatic Mild Frother Model F280R SM K6F5 Used to foam hot milk beverages like chai latte or hot chocolate
Purchased Secura Automatic Frother model F280R SN: J6F5 on 10/30/23 on amazon.com. This was to replace same model purchased 2/2022 that failed. After using the new product, I realized there were metal shavings stuck to the permanent magnet of the mixer/impeller. Upon further scrutiny, I realized the metal shavings were being expelled from inside the mixer/impeller by centrifugal force during use of the product. I removed the mixer/impeller and disassembled it to inspect the permanent magnetics and found 100 or more metal shavings inside the mixer/impeller assembly. These shavings were exposed to the beverage being mixed in the Frother and subsequently, likely ingested by myself and my wife. There was also other debris which appeared to be dried adhesive. There were no obvious injuries but ingesting metal shavings is certainly not healthy.
