The product, in the report: Wipes Warmer Brand: PrinceLionheart Color: white Model: 9002 Available on the company website, amazon and other stores

Baby wipes warmer starts burning the pads and wipes.

Brand: Prince Lionheart Type: Preminum Model: 9002

    Requires: pad inside

I have been using this wipes the last 6 months and also replacing the water pads inside, following the instructions. Last night when I went to chenge my baby’s diaper I noticed the wipes kinda dried and with different texture from usual. I got better light in the warmer and noticed that the wipes was brown ish, so I keep taking more and notice that on the botton (inside) the warmer the pad start burning and as well all the wipes, this is why the coloration.

I’m sure if I didnt notice this happening in time could get in fire soon as the wipes get completely dry because over heating and could cause a big damage in my house, and harm my baby and the other member in the family. In special is it was middle of the night.

The product, in the report: Prince Lionheart Wipes Warmer #9002 Baby Wipe Warmer

Our wipes warmer was empty and needing a new absorbent pad, so we decided to unplug it and clean it out as normal.

When carrying it to the sink, without the cord attached, I noticed some water leaking. After investigating further I found that the water was coming out around the power plug. There was about a half a cup of water in the bottom of it.

I didn’t notice in the instructions if it was recommended to be plugged into a GFI plug for protection from electrical short circuits due to water inside of the electrical cavity, but I would do that if I were to buy another one.

We have owned this product for a couple of years, and it has worked very well. But after finding the water coming out of the electrical plug-in we will not be using it any more.

There were no injuries or damage caused by this issue. Our little one will be disappointed to find only cold wipes until it is replaced.

The product, in the report: Baby wipes warmer

Prince Lionheart Premium wipes warmer was being used according to manual. Insert was kept moist as needed. We have used it with no issues for 1 year. Today as I was changing my baby’s diaper I smelled something burning and saw the cord at the back of the unit where it was plugged in black, burnt and melted. I immediately inplugged it and took it outside. The unit was very hot on the bottom as well.

The product, in the report: PRINCE LIONHEART WIPES WARMER MODEL 9002

We own a Prince Lionheart wipes warmer for our 11 month old. Last week I noticed smoke coming from the babies changing table and found it to be coming from where the plug goes into the warmer. I immediately unplugged the power from the wall outlet and the smoke stopped leaving only a horrible odor. When I tried to unplug the cord from the back of the unit it was fused in place. When I managed to get it unplugged it was charred and actually pulled the center pin of the receptacle out from the unit itself, (see picture). When I was able to lift the unit up, charred black smelly water poured out from where the cord plugs into the unit. Somehow water was able to get out of the area the wipes sit in and get where it should not have. I have inspected the unit and find no obvious points of entry where the water could have done this, so I can only assume a micro crack or something permitted this to happen.

The product, in the report: Prince Lion Heart Diaper Wipe Warmer Premium model # 9002 with a white label with the number 121106.

My wife and I purchased the Prince Lionheart Wipe warmer premium model # 9002 with a white label on the bottom with the numbers 121106 from Buy Buy Baby. We have had it for about 5 months now and started experiencing problems with it about 2 weeks ago ( today is 03/29/14). I should say that when I set the warmer up for the first time I followed the instruction and made sure the warmer was away from potential hazards. I am a Professional Fire fighter and know that products like these have a potential to malfunction and cause issues. the issue began when my wife informed me that the heart shaped light on the front went out. I looked at the warmers power cord where it connects to the warmer to ensure that the cord hadn’t worked its way out some how; it hadn’t. I set the device back down and the light was on so we decided to continue to use it; keeping a cautious eye on it. We didn’t have another issue with it until today when the light again went out. I tilted the wipe warmer towards me ( with plenty of slack in the cord) to look at the back again to see if the power cord came out. when I touched the cord it fell out of the power port and the cord adapter was covered in a wet black residue and the warmers power connector ( the piece that the power cord adapter fits over on the warmer) was still in the power cord adapter and it too was covered in the same residue. I immediately unplugged the cord from the wall and moved the warmer away from my son and his changing pad; as I moved it a reddish colored fluid ( rust colored) poured out of the power cord adapter hole on the warmer( approximately 3 mL) on to my carpet. I set it back down on the dresser/changing table and inspected the warmer both inside and out for cracks, nicks, dents or dings and inspected the seal on the lid to make sure it was also intact, after I didn’t find any of the afore mentioned I set it down on a section of my tile floor in my bathroom and immediately contacted the Prince lionheart Company and am waiting for their response. Please make sure if you own one to watch out for any problems like I mentioned.

The product, in the report: Diaper Wipe Warmer

I want to report the fire hazard associated with the use of the Prince Lionheart diaper wipes warmer. I noticed yesterday that the warmer was not longer heating up and did not appear to have power. I checked the back of the unit where the power cord attaches and found that it was corroded and was covered in a brown liquid. It appears that the product must be leaking water somehow onto the place where the plug is inserted into the unit. This seems extremely dangerous, especially for a product that is kept an infant’ room.

I have only been using this product for three months and have followed the directions exactly as stated. There was no warning that this was a potential risk in any of the materials provided by the company.

Upon further research, I found many reports on Amazon.com of other parents experiencing the same problem. I hope that action is taken soon before anyone gets hurt.

The product, in the report: Baby Wipe Warmer

Baby Wipe Warmer caller suspects that there is a crack in the warmer tub or it is not sealed properly. Moisture is going down into the electrical system, has shorted it out and when the caller pulled the cord out of the warmer the water and the cord were both black indicating that there had been some sparking or burning. Other models are recalled for this problem but his is not recalled.

    Purchased around December 05,2012.

He is reporting this as a safety issue due to the possibility of fire.

    No injuries are being reported.

Caller has not contacted the manufacturer but does intend to contact them.

The product, in the report: Prince Lionheart Premium Wipes Warmer

After a year of usage (and proper maintenance as per manufacturers instructions) the AC adapter shorted out and I realized it had begun corroding at the insertion point. I had two of these wipes warmers and this happened to both units within months of one another. When the second one broke, I started thinking it was not just a fluke and did some investigating/inspection. I realized that when the unit is in use and open, condensation that has accumulated on the lid leaks through to the back of the unit and onto the power cord where it inserts into the unit. This water damage leads to shorts and corrosion over time. Both of these units were kept away from water sources and that is the only water damage that occurred. They were also used in GFCI protected outlets in a 10 year old house with a whole house surge protection system in place (as well as a whole house generator as a back-up power supply). I unplugged the units immediately and continued use only as a dispenser and not a warmer, realizing I did not want anything that could be a potential fire hazard in my home.

The product, in the report: Prince Lionheart Wipes Warmer #9002 Baby Wipe Warmer

I have been using a Prince Lionheart Wipes Warmer #9002 for our new baby since October 2011. On July 21st, 2012 Guests in my house noticed the GFCI outlets in our second bathroom no longer worked. I investigated and determined that the GFCI fuse had popped, and would not reset. I checked to make sure everything was unplugged from the GFCI circuit and then it would reset. The Prince Lionheart Wipes Warmer was unplugged from a GFCI protected outlet at this time.

Shortly after Plugging the Wipes Warmer back in, the GFCI outlet tripped again. At the time, the only thing plugged into the GFCI outlets were a small lamp on the bathroom counter and the Wipes Warmer. Upon removing the power plug form where it plugged into the Wipes Warmer, I observed water in the DC power connection plug. I then emptied the Wipes Warmer of baby wipes, and turned it upside down over my sink. A significant amount of water (maybe 10-20mLs) ran out of the device. It was rust colored, so it had obviously been accumulating for some time, as well as been in contact with metal inside the Wipes Warmer itself.

It was obvious to me without opening the Wipes Warmer to look at the circuitry itself that the device had filled up with water, apparently either entering through small cracks in the wipe holder itself, or through condensation dripping through the holes where the lid of the device connects to the body of the device.

Without a GFCI outlet protection, I am very concerned that either the Wipes Warmer would have shorted out, perhaps creating a fire, or represented an electrical shock hazard to myself or my wife as we removed a wipe from the warmer.
