The product, in the report: LiveFine towel warmer. Picture of label and User Guide uploaded.

The Live Fine Towel Warmer (Model LFHTTWL01) in my master bathroom had a malfunction and melted down overnight.

I woke up at 3 am and smelled a burning smell, not quite like a home fire but still very strong. I walked throughout my house but couldn’t find the source. Once I got up hours later, the smell was much stronger and so repugnant that I searched again. I finally realized it was my towel warmer in my master bathroom. I had placed several shirts on top of the unit (on the lid) which is why I didn’t immediately see the issue. I videod once I discovered what was happening.

The top lid had melted into the unit. It was still dripping the melted lid material into the base of the towel warmer when I found it. I wanted to remove it from my house immediately, but even the outside of the unit was so hot I couldn’t touch it. After unplugging, I waited a few minutes and used a towel to carry it outside.

The unit was not turned on, and even if it had been, there is an automatic turn off switch that should’ve prevented this from occurring. I did not use the towel warmer the previous night before going to bed. I verified by looking at the unit that it was turned off and took pictures. The electrical cord itself had no damage and was not hot to the touch.

So the malfunction was on the inside of the unit. I was very concerned since it was so hot and could’ve caught fire especially with the couple shirts I had placed on the top of the unit (which I’ve done many times before and never had an issue). The shirt on the bottom closest to the lid had discoloration from the burning and all items were very hot to the touch. And the smell lingered for several days despite using many types of sanitizers. While there were no injuries, thankfully, the smell triggered my asthma and caused some breathing difficulties.

I’ve had the towel warmer for about 2 years and never had an issue before this unexpected problem occurred. I live in a senior living community and have very elderly neighbors who are not very mobile. Besides worry for myself, as it was in the bathroom in my master suite, if it had caught fire and spread could’ve been very difficult for my neighbors.
