The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

The product, in the report: Tower Warmer

    Product purchased from Costco.com

Item - Ancona Towel Warmer (Manufacturer is Ancona) Purchased from Costco.com

    Model - Comfort 9S Wall Plug-In

This is an item that warms your bath towers in your bathroom. I had an incident where we found our towels were singed after being on the towel rail for several hours. I also had my grandchildren here and advised them not to get close to the towel rail since it was extremely hot. What I found out was that the electric unit was supposed to be operating at 115 watts but was actually at 140 to 145 watts and I was able to check this with a wattage meter.

I contacted the manufacturer and advised them of the issue and they promptly sent me a replacement and asked for the defective unit to be returned. I have checked the replacement unit and it is operating at 111watts which is satisfactory. My concern is that they may have sold other defective units that might need to be checked to ensure that are at the proper wattage.
