The product, in the report: Performax 27FT Flathook Padded Tie Down (large rachet straps) item # at Menards is 235-6549 they are yellow with a metal hook at each end and a racheting mechanism on 1 end.
my company purchased 6 Performax ratchet straps that are rated at 3300lbs from Menards and then we tied a load down of about 1000lbs and each one, all 6 broke, they just snapped at the hooks. we examined the metal of the hooks (this is a machine shop) and it looked like weak castings were used instead of the proper hardened steel. if we had been on the road when those failed its likely we could have killed someone. I feel there needs to be a recall of this product, they are dangerous. i did contact Menards and they just gave me the standard sorry you were disappointed email.
