Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

The product, in the report: Wire Bristle from Grill Brush

The consumer indicates that she barbequed hamburgers. It appears her husband accidentally and unknowingly ingested a grill wire brush bristle because a couple of days later, he began to complain about stomach pain. The consumer’s husband was taken to the ER, where they performed a CAT scan; having not found the source of his intestinal inflammation, they had to perform exploratory surgery, and eventually cut out approximately two feet of his intestines because of infection. The grill wire brush bristle was later found; the consumer’s husband was hospitalized for nine days.

The consumer states that the brush was used three to four times per year prior to the accident, and has a length of approximately one inch and a half.

The consumer plans on keeping the grill brush for at least the next thirty days in case an investigation ensues.
