The product, in the report: Grill Brush for cleaning the grates of a grill
On May 17 I cleaned a friends grill that I was house sitting for with a wire grill brush, One night I had cooked a hamburger, upon eating it I felt a sharp pain pierce my tongue. It took two weeks before I was seen by an ENT. Upon exam he concluded that he did not see anything in my tongue. A Cat Scan was ordered by the ENT, but misread by the radiologist. I assume the ENT did not bother to look at the CT himself. It was concluded and reported as negative for a foreign body in tongue. I then went to an oral surgeon whom upon taking a orbital CT scan saw immediately the lodged piece of grill bristle in the back part of me tongue. I then saw an another ENT who looked at the Yale CT (the 1st one) which clearly showed the wire bristle and from there 3 surgerys ensued and were all unsuccessful at removing the wire bristle.
Consequently, I STILL HAVE THE BRISTLE LODGED IN MY TONGUE...The trauma and swelling from the attempted removal and 3 surgeries performed within 1 week has resulted in me not being able to enunciate clearly; nor swallow without focused attention to doing so, severe pain, a numb tongue with minimal taste, swelling and severe mouth ulcers.
6-19-18 was the 1st of 3 surgeries and as of today, I am slowly recovering but still have te bristle lodged in my throat; and I am still looking for someone who can help me. Products are recalled for being significantly less of a danger to the public than these steel-bristled grill brushes.
These brushes NEED TO BE REMOVED FROM THE MARKET!
If you have any information on the physician who successfully removed the bristle from the base of the patient’s tongue (from the case reported in 2011), please contact me! Thank you so much for your attention to this matter.
