The product, in the report: Product Name: Momcozy Silicone Baby Bottle Brush Color: Pink silicone brush head with white plastic handle Size/Dimensions: Approximately 10.5 inches in total length Material: Food-grade soft silicone brush head (light pink) Internal plastic stick/support rod (embedded inside silicone) White hard plastic handle with grip and hanging loop Intended Use: Designed for cleaning infant bottles, nipples, and other baby feeding items. The product is advertised as safe for newborns and suitable for hot water sterilization (e.g., boiling). Design Issue Identified: The silicone brush head conceals an internal plastic rod, which is not visibly accessible and not mentioned in the products cleaning instructions. This design allows moisture and milk residue to build up in the hidden cavity, creating an ideal environment for mold growth. The products structure made regular cleaning insufficient and misled the user to believe it was fully clean, leading to a potential health hazard.
I used this product for about a month, following general cleaning practices including weekly boiling. However, I was unaware that the silicone brush head could be detached from the internal plastic stick. This area was not visible and no cleaning or disassembly instructions were provided.
Upon discovering that the head could be separated, I found visible grime and mold hidden inside. Around the same time, my baby began showing symptoms including a persistent cough, discomfort, and trouble eating.
