The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

The product, in the report: Kingsford grill cleaning brush with stainless steel wires

My husband cleaned our grill with a Kingsford grill brush with stainless steel wires. I felt a sharp pain in my throat upon eating a piece of chicken, which did not resolve after several hours and many attempts to dislodge whatever was bothering me. I finally went to the ER where an x-ray was taken. A stainless steel wire from the grill brush (over 1/2 in long) was lodged in the soft tissue of my throat. I had to go into the OR and be put under general anaesthesia to have the foreign body removed immediately. From what the doctor said, they have seen this before and sometimes with much worse results such as a perforated bowel. I consider myself lucky that it happened to me and not to either of my young children and that I did not swallow the wire completely, potentially injuring me worse.
