Emergency room Made Apr 17, 2024, sent to the company May 22, 2024, published by CPSC Jun 6, 2024
The product, in the report: plastic & metal broom, with dustpan
4/12/2024: The consumer used the broom for approximately 2 – 3 seconds, when it broke in half. A part of the handle detached and left the sharp, round top portion of the broom exposed, which stuck her right hand. The consumer called her mother, who came and took her to the local [REDACTED], Emergency Care. The consumer was treated and received 9 sutures to her hand. She was released the same day and advised to come back to have the sutures removed.
It was further recommended that she see a hand specialist and visit her primary care physician. The consumer is also diabetic and even more concerned about her injury.
The top part of this broom had separated on previous occasions. However, she said it should have been secured to the top of the broom, so that this would not happen.
The consumer tried calling the dealer numerous times, but no one answered the phone.
