The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

  1. Hurt, no treatment

The product, in the report: Oversize Coffee Mug - Threshold Stoneware Mug - Distributed by Target Corp. UPC code 6 57284 96658 6

My wife purchased an oversized coffee mug from Target on 7/20/20. On the morning of 7/21/20 she sat down on the couch with the cup full of coffee. The handle of the mug separated from the mug causing the coffee to spill all over my wife, the couch and the floor. She experienced minor burns, no doctor needed. I contacted Target to let them know that there was an unsafe product on their shelves (What if this was a mother drinking while nursing a baby?) the first person I spoke to was very nice. Another called me back and was very rude as if we did this on pupose. They put me in touch with the manufacturer who called me. They basically accused me of shaking them down for money...I was more concerned about safety, but would have taken a couple of hundred dollars to have the carpet cleaned, but that’s it. Was not interested in suing. They asked me to send the mug back so I did. I just received a letter back that they found no quality issues and have dismissed my concerns. This is wrong. This is a dangerous product.
