The product, in the report: Takeya 25oz Traveler Leakproof Coffee Mug in Bluestone.
I purchased a Takeya water bottle from my local Best Buy in early August (8/5/25). This bottle was used by my 10 year old son at school. This week, on 8/27/25, we noticed that the bottle made a rattling sound as he began to hand wash it. When he looked more closely he saw that the rim of the insulated bottle had come apart, and there was a sharp piece of metal that had peeled away from the body of the bottle and there were sharp edges left behind where the metal peeled away. This exposed my son, my husband, and myself to unknown chemicals that were supposed to be sealed inside. And also exposed my son to the risk of sharp metal cutting his mouth and hands and potentially pieces of sharp metal being ingested. I reached out to Takeya and their response was literally that the water bottle is “safe”, so they are not taking this seriously.
