The product, in the report: White ceramic coffee mug with blue paisley painted design on it

I was given a coffee mug as a gift. I’ve had this mug for several months and have used it without incident for drinking coffee. Yesterday, I put the mug in the microwave for the first time to heat up some milk. I ran the microwave for 1 minute 30 seconds. When it was done, I grabbed the mug by its handle and was burned. I used a pot holder to take the mug out of the microwave. The milk in the mug was not very hot but the handle and the body of the mug was extremely hot. I waited for it to cool down, then poured out the milk and then looked at the bottom of the mug to see if it wasn’t considered microwave safe. The stamp on the bottom said it was both microwave and dishwasher safe. Today I have a red mark on one of the fingers I used to try to pick the cup up with, and some small blisters are starting to form.

The reason I am reporting this is because the cup is dangerous to use in the microwave. I’m not happy about being burned, but I’m more concerned about these cups being on the market and being considered microwave safe. If there’s a burn danger there should be a warning on the cup. I’ve used lots of stoneware in microwaves. If they are safe for use, they stay reasonably cool when heating up liquids-especially handles that don’t come into contact with the hot liquids.

The stamp on the bottom of the cup says it was made by Royal Norfolk and imported by Greenbrier International Inc.
