The product, in the report: Tempered glassware for drinking purposes sold by Williams Sonoma as Picardie and/or Sienna glassware
This involves Picardie and/or Sienna brand tempered drinking glasses/tumblers purchased by me from Williams Sonoma vial phone/mail order catalog. Glasses are approximately 3 years old or four at the most.
Yesterday, one was being removed from kitchen cabinet shelf and shattered/exploded in my 14 year old granddaughter’s hand without injury. In addition, another one did the same in countertop use within the past two months. Again, no injury. In both situations, there was no abuse, or hitting another object. The glasses simply shattered upon being picked up by hand.
However, if someone is looking and reaching upwards, it is possible the small pieces could cause eye or other injury, or injury in another type of situation.
I have emailed this problem to Williams Sonoma as well today.
Normally these glasses are quite durable and can take a fall to the floor or in a sink without damage. Upon inspecting some of the other glasses, I found one with a small shard missing from its bottom. As a result I have boxed all of these up and put into storage for the time being.
