The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

  1. No one hurt

Made Apr 10, 2019, sent to the company Apr 19, 2019, published by CPSC May 10, 2019

The product, in the report: “earthchoice” paper cup by “ingeo” or “pactiv”, I’m not which other latter 2 words is the name of the company.

If you put an “earthchoice” coffee cup in a microwave, even before the coffee is hot enough to drink, the cup will catch on fire. This brand of a coffee cup apparently made from re-cycled paper and is more environmental friendly. I have had this happen 3 times over the past 6 months. I usually use a Styrofoam cup instead, but occasionally get coffee in a place that uses this cup. The cups are available in light brown and light green color. I don’t recall which one I used.

I smelled smoke in the room and I observed a portion of the cup was charred black on the outside.

Obviouly this is a major safety issue that you should investigate. Just get cup and try heating water or coffee to the temperature you would normally drink.
