The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

  1. Seen by a doctor or nurse

Made Sep 15, 2025, sent to the company Sep 18, 2025, published by CPSC Nov 14, 2025

The product, in the report: Owala Kids Insulation Stainless Steel Tumbler with Spill Resistant Flexible Straw, Easy to Clean, Kids Water Bottle, Great for Travel, Dishwasher Safe, 12 Oz Pink and Purple (Lilac Rocket)

I got hand injury that required medical attention ( 5 stitches) while cleaning a water bottle. It was my child’s water bottle which was used day to day since purchase. Inside stainless steel liner was partially detached which exposed sharp stainless steel sheet metal edge. I was cleaning the product with my hand and sponge soaked in soap water, as I was rotating my hand to clean interior of water bottle, it created deep cut approximately 2cm wide between my ring and pinky finger on my right hand.

The product, in the report: Owala 12oz stainless steel kids tumbler

The external silicone straw on a children’s water bottle started tearing where the internal plastic straw is putting pressure on it. When I reported this to Owala, they told me that “If a small piece is dislodged, it will harmlessly pass if swallowed.” This product is advertised for children 3+ and I use it for my toddler. I think it is incredibly wreckless for them to tell a parent that it is fine for a child to swallow pieces of their product instead of remedying the situation.

Owala Kids Insulation Stainless Steel Tumbler with Spill Resistant Flexible Straw, Easy to Clean, Kids Water Bottle, Great for Travel, Dishwasher Safe, 12 Oz, Blue and Light Green (Turtley Awesome)

The rubber stoppers in the straw to prevent leakage, one of the four is gone. Not sure if my kid swallowed it or it came off with a washing.
