As each report says it, in short words; CPSC’s own words are under each.

The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

  1. No one hurt

Made Feb 6, 2016, sent to the company Feb 16, 2016, published by CPSC Mar 8, 2016

The product, in the report: Ikea Pokal 9 oz clear drinking glasses

Two Ikea 9oz Pokal drinking glasses have shattered into hundreds (if not thousands) of small pieces under unexpected circumstances. One glass shattered inside a closed cabinet. No one was home. Our dishes had been put away hours before and were totally cold from being in the dishwasher overnight so there was no change in temperature and no one touched the glasses. However, it exploded with such force that it went inside of other dishes not only on the shelf it was sitting on but also on the shelf above it! (This first incident was 12/15/15 and I have photographs showing the bits of glass spread throughout the cabinet.) With the second incident (estimated date below), someone was removing a glass from the cabinet and bumped an adjacent glass. It was not with a force that you would have expected it to break but again rather than a simple break it shattered into innumerable pieces. The pieces continued to crack and break apart as they lay (untouched) on the countertop.
