The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

  1. No one hurt

Made Jun 12, 2022, sent to the company Jun 14, 2022, published by CPSC Jun 30, 2022

The product, in the report: Ikea 365+ glasses (set of 6 - 15ox) - product number 602.797.11 drinking glasses/kitchenware - 15 oz, clear no decoration (see photos for remaining glasses) link to product description online: https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/ikea-365-glass-clear-glass-60279711/

Product info: IKEA 356+ glasses (15 oz, item number 602.797.11) I bought the glass set in April 2022 from the Ikea store in Centennial, Colorado. In June 2022, two of the glasses exploded on different days. - The first time it happened the glass was filled with tap water and sitting on a desk untouched for approximately 15 minutes. I was sitting next to it working and it was totally spontaneous. There had been no cracks in the glass. - The second glass exploded on June 12, 2022 and was sitting upside down in a drying rack approximately probably an hour after being washed when it exploded, but that is a guess because no one was home.

Fortunately there were no injuries during each incident. I will keep the remaining four in the box in case a chance for investigation of the remaining product is possible. I have already disposed of the broken glasses but do have photos of them.

This is a link to the product on the Ikea website - if you look at reviews and sort by lowest-rated, you will not that this is NOT the first time this has happened, in fact there are a lot of reviews stating that the product exploded. [REDACTED]

I left a negative review and also contacted the Ikea via online chat. I have a transcript of the conversation with the company representative which just said basically “sorry” and that they’ll forward to their concern team, but when I repeatedly asked for follow up, I was denied.
