The product, in the report: (The Product Category name in this report is incorrect, and I am unable to edit it here. These are marketed for 12 mos +.) Tommee Tippee Sportee Bottle. It’s a sippy cup with a sightly different shape to the spout than their regular “Sippee Cup”. The lids are interchangeable. We have had no problem with their regular “Sippee Cups”, which they market for 7 mos +. The “Sportee Bottle” is marketed to 12 mos + and is supposed to resemble a sports bottle. I am attaching a photo that shows the difference between the “Sippee Cup” and the defective “Sportee Bottle” They are both available at [REDACTED]. This is the link to the defective “Sportee Bottle”: [REDACTED]
My toddlers were able to bite the rubber tops off from their Tommee Tippee sportee sippee cups. They looked like they were chewing gum. I was concerned that they could have choked on them. One would think their toddler was safe, sitting watching [REDACTED] with their sippy cup and no small choking hazards within their reach. Ours were using theirs to drink water. I called the Tommee Tippee product support line, and they said it was my fault, because I should have purchased their cups with hard tops. The product packaging states these are for “12 mos +”. Toddlers have teeth at 12 mos +. It’s not on me to anticipate this design flaw. They need to fix it or market these to infants without teeth.

Emergency room Made Jun 9, 2016, sent to the company Jun 17, 2016, published by CPSC Jul 11, 2016
The product, in the report: 666519480568 Tommee Tippee Insulated Sipper Tumbler - Boy - 9 oz
My son was using the Tommee Tippee Sippee Cups for 8 months, from around 8 months of age until 16 months of age. We specifically chose this cup because we really enjoyed the baby bottles from the same brand and had read great reviews about the product. Unfortunately around 13 months of age, my son began to get sick very frequently. We would clean his play area, disinfect his dishes and cups, wash his bedding and still no change. He did not attend daycare and was not around any other children or adults who had been sick. After about a month of being sick with cold like symptoms, he came down with his first case of pneumonia which resulted in several trips to the doctor as well as the ER, inclusive of x-rays. Only one and half weeks after completing his antibiotics, my son contracted a second case of pneumonia which resulted in additional doctors visits, another trip to the ER and a second round of x-rays. Needless to say, it was a very scary and very difficult 3 months. My husband and I took turns sleeping each night to make sure our son was breathing and to watch his temperature as it rose to dangerous levels. We took time off work, tended to his every need and continued searching for the culprit. It wasn’t until I came upon one mothers viral online post about her TTommee Tippee Sippee Cup and the mold issue, that I then considered these cups could be the problem. I had been cleaning and disinfecting his cups daily. I would hand wash them with soap, soak the lids with soap, rinse everything very well and hang it all to dry. My husband immediately cut open one of the valves from inside the Tommee Tippee Sippee Cup and sure enough we found mold! We had been rotating these two cups among his other cups, but these were the “go-to” and as it turned out, they were also the culprit. As soon as we disposed of the cups and had our son drinking from straw cups only, he began to get healthy. It has now been 4 solid months and he has not been sick once! I plan to take action against the company for not catching this flaw in their design. There is absolutely no way to properly sanitize these valves and many children have paid the price (both physically and financially) for the company’s negligence. Even though we have fantastic insurance, I am still paying off those doctors and hospital visits which has resulted in thousands of dollars out of pocket. I would pay anything to get my son healthy, but he shouldn’t have been sick in the first place.

The product, in the report: Tommee Tippee Sippee spill-proof cup pink 7+ month and 9+month.
I started purchasing your Tommee Tippee Sippee spill-proof cups when my daughter turned about 6 months old. I first saw mold claims on facebook. After opening the white piece under the lid I found mold in mine as well. It didn’t seems to be as bad as the ones pictured on facebook but any amount of mold is bad for a small child.

My little boy was using these Tommee Tippee cups and I saw an article online a few months ago so decided to cut one of my inserts open and sure enough there was mold growing in it and I had only been using it right around 6 months. I contacted Tommee Tippee and they said they could send me new inserts but I said I wanted new cups so didn’t get anything.

The product, in the report: Tommee Tippee Sippee cups
I purchased 2 Tommee Tippee Sippee cups in March of 2016. After a few uses and washes I noticed water or milk would be stuck on the inside valve after both hands asking as well as running it through the dishwasher. I would have to pound it on the side of the sink to release some of the moisture. At one point milk had curdled inside the valve and came out in a chunk after being run through the dishwasher. At this point I threw both cups away.

The product, in the report: Tommee Tippee Sippy cups with anti spill valves that cannot be taken apart to be cleaned.
My son has been using Tommee Tippee cups for the past year and a half. He started getting sick in November. We treated his coughing as a cold but it wouldn’t heal. We finally took him to the doctor Feb 22, 2016 to have him looked at and he was diagnosed with respiratory airway restriction. He was given an inhaler. A few days later I saw on Facebook that a father had a child who was ill and he opened the valves on his Tommee Tippee cups and found mold. I was shocked. I opened my valves on three of my cups and sure enough, they were covered in mold. I called Tommee Tippee Careline and they offered to replace the valves and told me to return to the doctor to see if my son’s issues could be from the mold. I did. And my son was prescribed another inhaler. The doctor said my son’s illness could have been from the mold spores. I called the Careline back hoping they would pay for my son’s treatment, in the very least and was told they would not. Without indisputable proof that his illness was from the mold, they wouldn’t do anything other than replace the valves. I am convinced my otherwise healthy three year old became ill from the mold in these cups. We stopped using the cups, and he’s starting to recover. The fact that this company cares so little for the actual health of its customers (they say they do but obviously it’s just lip service) tells me this product needs to be recalled, in the very least, until they can guarantee the safety of our children.

The product, in the report: Spill proof drinking cup for babies and toddlers. Has two tilted handles made easy for babies starting to drink with a cup to turn up on their own. Has a spill proof insert that traps water/liquids inside and can not be cleaned.
A sippy cup made by Tommee Tippee has a spill proof insert that traps fluids inside of it. There is no way to disassemble it for cleaning or anything. You literally have to destroy the insert to check for mold, ect. The inside molds and is sure to make babies/children sick. This is very dangerous and unhealthy to say the least. A recall is needed on this product very badly!

The product, in the report: The product is the Tommee Tippee 10 oz. blue spill proof sippy cup. The part that is causing the problem is the single piece spill guard
The Tommee Tippee sippy cup contains a spill proof valve that cannot be taken apart and cleaned thoroughly. Because of this no matter how much I bleach or boil, it grows mold. I use the cup as directed only using pulp free juices and water, I shake all the water out after washing and let it air dry completely. I even go as far as to try to blow excess water out , and still my sippy cup valve has molded. Many parents are reporting this same problem in North American and in Europe.

My child has been drinking out of Tommee Tippee sippy cups for approximately 2 years. We found mold in two of the spill proof valves last week even though we followed the manufacturer cleaning instructions!!! We immediately threw away all the valves! Then this week we saw an article stating mold has been found inside the spouts of these same sippy cups! We immediately stopped using them. We have 10 cups that we can no longer use. They were so expensive!! Not to mention our child has been fighting sickness for many many months! This is probably why!! We have calls into our doctors.

The product, in the report: Pink Tommee Tippee sippee cup with pear picture on front
In the summer of 2015 I purchased a baby cup aka a sippee cup made by Tommee Tippee. My daughter transitioned from a bottle to water in this cup successfully. I followed the detailed instructions on how to clean this cup and sterilized it periodically. In October 2015 my now 19 month old daughter started getting repeated nasal and chest congestion which included a terrible cough for which she had a chest xray done to rule out pneumonia. Her illness continued almost constantly till this date. A friend forwarded me a photo taken by a fellow parent of the inside valve of this cup which the consumer is unable to access. It was infested with black mold. My friend immediately advised me to inspect my cup as mold may also be present and be the cause of my daughters continuous ailments. I pryed the valve open with a wire cutter and after about 15 minutes I got it open and found a large amount of black mold on the inside. These cups should be recalled immediately.

My 4yr old complained that his cup smelled terrible so I thought it may have not been washed properly. However, after the 2nd time he mentioned it, I took a good look at what could be causing the foul smell because I knew I washed it properly.. I discovered that there was black gunk/mold inside the one piece valve! I immediately checked the other 7 sippy cups which I clean thoroughly and found that ALL OF THEM HAD BLACK MOLD IN THE VALVE! There’s no way to clean this - I tried everything over the past 3 days and even bought several small brushes to get in the small holes. No luck. I then had my husband break the valves open to see how clean all my efforts really helped and we were livid to find out that we didn’t stand a chance at cleaning this valve or avoiding giving our son a cup with mold in it which is probably the reason he’s been sick and throwing up recently. This is discusting and seems to be a widespread issue after reading similar experiences from other parents across several forums.

I gave my daughter her sippy cup to drink from and she started crying saying “wwww yucky!” I took the cup from her and took a drink. What came out of the cup was a putrid taste, and I started gagging and ran to rinse my mouth out. That is when I took the cup apart and to my horror there was a greenish brown mold on the inside. After looking at reviews on amazon, I saw that I was not the only one who had this problem with the sippy cups because the valve is impossible to clean.

The product, in the report: Tommee Tippee 9+ month Sippee Cups
I have two tommee tippee sippy cups. In the lid, there is a stopper to prevent it from leaking. Tonight, while putting a cup together (i always unassemble the cups when washing and then store separately) i noticed dark inside the stopper. I immediately stopped what i was doing and cut it open. It was full of mold. Upon visiting their facebook page, i realized i am not the only consumer with this issue. Tommee Tippees response is “updated” cleaning instructions. Im sorry but the way these are designed, there is no way to fully dry them out and prevent moisture accumulation to prevent mold! Kids are going to get sick from these and they need to be pulled from the shelves! I have photos but have thrown the cups and stoppers away.

The product, in the report: Tommee Tippee explora Truly spill proof water bottle
I purchased Tommee Tippee Explora spill-proof water bottles on or about June 15, 2011. Within weeks my 2 year old twins were able to chew the spout of the cup completely off of the cup. Had I not been sitting with my child, I feel he could have easily swallowed and possibly choked on the spout that had come off the bottle. The product is marked for ages 18 months and up. However, in light of the fact that my son was able to chew the spout off, I have no doubt that any child within the given age range would be able to do the same. I would hate to have a child become injured because of this product
