The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

The product, in the report: Dishware from The Cellar Handpaint Made in China Exclusively for Macy’s. Pattern Code CLRCLR42. Dinner Plates, Sandwhich Plates, Soup Bowls, Pasta Bowls, Coffee Cups Manufacturer Status: Discontinued Actual: 2008 - 2009 Pattern: CLR42 by CELLAR, THE [CLRCLR42] Description: YELLOW FLOWERS, GREEN LEAVES, BLUE TRIM

Message = We purchased dishes from Macys that are labeld “The Cellar manufactured exclusively for Macy’s”. Pattern Code is CLRCLR42. These were sold as individual peices, not a set. These are marked Microwave Safe. However when placed in the microwave for minute settings they become burn hazards. We’ve contacted Macy’s for resolution with no response except that they stopped selling them. To illustrate the problem we conducted several tests with other dishes also marked microwave safe. We placed the coffee mug with water at the same level for each cup we tested in the microwave for 90 seconds For “the Cellar” collection, the infrared scanner registers surface temperatures of the handle at 186 degrees. When we compared this to other sets of dishes and performed the same test, the handle temperature registered at 76-81 degrees. The other items such as plates, bowls in the Cellar collection have similar temperature readings. These are extremely unsafe. They have caused burns to our hands. We would like to see what can be done.
