The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

  1. No one hurt

Made Apr 7, 2014, sent to the company Apr 15, 2014, published by CPSC Apr 29, 2014

The product, in the report: Sippy Cup 200 09 1639 ID054422 Dist by Target Corpl, Mpls., MN 55403 Made in China @2014 Target Brands, Inc bar code is: 92000 91639

A baby/toddler dropped a new sippy cup, about 1/2 full of water, from table height onto a tile kitchen floor. The lower section of the cup shattered, leaving several sharp edges on the remains of the cup, and three completely broken off, sharp edged, pieces. The broken pieces would easily be swallowable.

It seems like a baby’s sippy cup simply being dropped to the floor should not create dangerous sharp fractured pieces.

The cup is labeled Sippy Cup 200 09 1639 ID054422 Dist by Target Corpl, Mpls., MN 55403 Made in China @2014 Target Brands, Inc bar code is: 92000 91639

The caller stated that her 2yr grandchild was drinking from the silicone straw from the sippee cup and it disintegrated into small pieces. There were no injuries.

3/2013 The retailer was contacted and she was informed that someone would contact her for a report although she had reported the incident through email and was told that she had insufficient information.

The product, in the report: Pink Bunny Sippy Cup purchased at Target. The bottom of the cups reads “TARGET 200020683”.

My daughter cut her head on her sippy cup. It is a bunny sippy cup that we bought from Target. She cut her head between her eyes at the top of her nose. This caused crying and bleeding. We did not take her to the hospital at first because we got the bleeding to stop and it was around 9pm at night. After speaking with her pediatrician we were advised to take her to the hospital for stitches.

I looked up the cup online to report that it is hazardous and found that it had been recalled in April of this year. I had no idea that it had been recalled or I would have not let my child use it.

Made May 1, 2012, sent to the company May 9, 2012, published by CPSC May 31, 2012

The product, in the report: Pink bunny sippy cup sold by Target around Easter time. Bunny has one ear sticking up and one ear folded down on top of cup with soft silicone straw between the ears. The straw tore easily and broke off.

Target Bunny cup - I checked the straw in the cup before I ever gave it to my child and it tore and the top inch of the straw. If I’d given this to my child she could have choked on it. I immediately removed the rest of the straw and put the cup aside thinking I might be able to use a disposable straw instead. However I’ve now read that the cup has been recalled because the bunny ear could poke my child’s eye. Disappointing product.

The product, in the report: target pink bunny sippy cup

in reference to this recall: http://www.cpsc.gov/cpscpub/prerel/prhtml12/12162.html

My daughter used this cup, she was about 11 months old. and it poked her in the eye so severely we had to go to the ER immediately. Luckily no optical bones were broke-just severe bruising and swelling that subsided within hours.

I did call Target the following day and reported this incident. All they did was sent me a gift card with didn’t cover the ER visit and then they played it up like they were very upset. They told me they were going to have someone personally come to my house and pick up the product and i was no to return it to the store. never happened.

this cup was cute but awful-no age recommendation, hard thick plastic. AWFUL!

The product, in the report: Sippy cup

Caller stated that she noticed these sippy cups on the shelves in a store which have a hard plastic part projecting towards a child’s eye if they should try to drink from the straw on the cup. This hard plastic seems to be very harmful to a child’s eye.

The caller stated that she pointed it out to a rep in the store.

The sippy cup is shaped like a bunny with a clear base and pink and white upper shaped like a bunny head with 1 ear up and 1 ear flipped over.

The caller feels that this cup is unsafe and should not be sold on the market.
