Made Feb 2, 2015, sent to the company Feb 12, 2015, published by CPSC Mar 2, 2015

The product, in the report: Clear glass coffee mug

I poured boiling water into a clear glass coffee mug that I purchased at Dollar Tree. I began to stir the water with a spoon to mix with the chai tea mix I had placed in the mug ahead of the hot water. As I began to stir, the mug exploded, cracking in half, and the hot water went all over the counter and splashed onto me, soaking my pants and burning my leg in the process. I did not place the mug in the microwave, I boiled the water in a separate container and only poured hot water into the mug, assuming that a coffee mug could handle a hot beverage.
