Seen by a doctor or nurse Made Dec 14, 2021, sent to the company Dec 16, 2021, published by CPSC Jan 3, 2022
The product, in the report: Pepper mill manufactured by Cole & Mason, Derwent is the model. Color is stainless steel. It was a salt and pepper combo. The grind of the mills are adjustable.
While grinding black peppercorns into a ramekin, I notice a black broken piece of plastic. I emptied the well of a Derwent pepper mill and found a couple of more pieces . Not sure if plastic was digested prior to the discovery but there were two occasions where sharp abdominal pain was experienced two days apart (duration ( 5-10 seconds), after finding the plastic. Several instances since then. Met with Doctor on 12/4 and decision was made not to do a cat scan at this time since it maybe just spasm in colon and just a coincidence. Found one more piece of plastic in the well after the first instance.

No one hurt Made Jan 18, 2020, sent to the company Mar 3, 2020, published by CPSC Mar 17, 2020
The product, in the report: Cole and Mason Keswick Pepper Mill
On December 1, 2019 I ordered this pepper mill from Wayfair.com. The product arrived 15 days later and I wrapped it as a Christmas gift for my spouse (gift for us). When we opened the gift and mill, we opened the cap to replace the peppercorns in the unit and discovered a piece of plastic with the peppercorns. It came from the top of the mill, the part you turn to grind peppercorns. I used Wayfair.com’s online return process and they said I was to keep the unit and they would send a replacement. On Jan 13, 2020 I received the replacement and it too had the very same issue. So, i’m assuming this is a product safety issue as opposed to a one-off incident and on Jan 18, 2020 I decided to not contact Wayfair again but report to CPSC.
Cole and Mason Keswick Pepper Mill has material defect and a broken piece of the peppermill falls into the peppercorns. There is a prong on the lid of this grinder that breaks off and falls into the peppermill. Because the mill continues to function without 1 of the 4 prongs, the plastic piece sits among the peppercorns and falls into the grinding portion of the mill and either gets chopped into your food, or halts the function of the mill.
