The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

  1. Hurt, care not known

Made Jan 4, 2018, sent to the company Jan 12, 2018, published by CPSC Feb 6, 2018

The product, in the report: Glass fluid dispenser for cold beverages. Holds 2 US Gallons. Single fluid spout at the bottom of the glass container.

I purchased today 1/4/2018 at a super Wal-Mart in Ocoee, FL a Better Homes and Garden 2 Gallon glass fluid dispenser (for things like lemonade). During cleaning of the dispenser, the removal of the spout is required. When removing the spout as directed by instructions, the glass around the spout broke sending shards or pieces of glass into my hand. The glass in the area of the spout was extremely thin and fragile. This product will cause many injuries in my opinion. I have photos of the product and receipt. Wal-mart has been contacted at the local and Corp. HQ level.

The product, in the report: Cream Colored Gravy Boat manufactured by Better Homes and Gardens, made in China

I purchased a gravy boat from Walmart back around Thanksgiving 2012. When I got it home, I hand washed it and allowed it to dry before storing it. We then used it for gravy with our Thanksgiving lunch. When we were done, I put it in the dishwasher to wash with the rest of the dishes. When the dishes were dry, we stored it in a cabinet on top of a stack of saucers. At Christmas, I got it out again to use for gravy, but the bottom of the boat that has not been fired when made had black mold all around it, and the top of the saucer was also covers in black mold in the shape of the boat. We do not have any type of mold issues in our house. I think it is a result of the porcelain not being fired properly. I did not return the product to Walmart because I did not have the receipt.

The product, in the report: dishwasher and microwave safe ceramic dishes with an italian theme; coffee cup

The consumer stated that she wanted to report the unsafe condition of this product. The consumer stated that about a year ago (09/29/2011) she was washing the coffee cups when the handle broke off and cut her ring finger. She stated that she did not seek medical attention.

She also stated that about two weeks ago she was warming food in the microwave on one of the plates when the plate snapped in half. She stated that it had been warming for about two minutes.

She stated that a couple of the smaller plates broke in the dishwasher.

UPDATE: These dishes have been chipping and breaking for no reason. 1. A step was not taken for example: 2. They are [REDACTED] material. Not only are they not microwaveable as they say, they are not dishwasher safe, they are not handwashing safe. I still have the 2 sets of dishes except ones that broke in half in the microwave and dishwasher. I also do not have the cup that handle broke off and cut my hand (finger).
