When the Krups coffee grinder was plugged in, there was a loud popping noise, a large electrical spark and a puff of smoke released from the electrical cord at the base of the grinder which was then partially severed. The product was plugged in by a 44 y/o male but the grinder was not being used at the time and no injuries were sustained. The electrical cord was intact prior to its insertion to the outlet with no obvious defects. The connection to the base of the grinder was firm and nonmobile. The breaker turned off at the time of the incident.

This grinder was previously used about 3x daily without issue since 2017 and had not recently been cleaned nor exposed to water.
