The product, in the report: A $259 Kitchen Kutter manual food grinder was purchased on 6/30/12 from Kitchen Craft in West Bend, WI. Customer service is at: [REDACTED], see www.kitchencraftcookware.com Although my mother loves the food grinding capabilities of this Kitchen Kutter product there is a big problem with metal peeling off of the stem of this manual food grinder and concern that it can end up in the gastrointestinal tract of babies and adults. Please see enclosed photo’s. I’m not sure if the peeling metal caused damage to the inside of the metal sleeve of the main unit where the stem goes, but see pictured. Also on the stem inside the grinding cup that’s now stuck on the stem screw shows rusting problems. On the base of the stem the metal is starting to bubble. On the main unit where the sleeve connects with the base there are uncleaned metal shavings connected to the unit that are rusting and can come off with use. Although I haven’t contacted the company to given them a chance to resolve this danger: Due to dangerous circumstances to child and adult bodily safety I’m thinking this needs to be food and safety alert and has been reported to the http://www.consumer-action.org/hotline/complaint_form/ and then to needed State and Federal agencies. Please advise immediately. Thanks very much.
