The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

  1. No one hurt

Made Mar 3, 2025, sent to the company Mar 6, 2025, published by CPSC Mar 20, 2025

The product, in the report: Roughly 8-inch tall, 2-inch diameter salt/pepper grinder. All clear plastic. Not meant to be refilled, product comes with salt or pepper inside. Consists of 3/4 empty cavity containing salt/pepper, with a threaded neck at the top to which the grinder is attached. Grinder consists of two interlocking rings which, when rotating, grinds large salt cubes or whole pepper corns into smaller crystals or flakes. The larger, grinding ring has a central plastic funnel, which is attached to the inner edge by fragile, plastic bridge points. This seems to be where the break happens.

On 2 separate occasions, Ive had a Bowl & Basket salt or pepper mill break while grinding, dropping small, sharp pieces from the mills internal plastic grinder, into my food. Due to the nature of grinding salt or pepper onto a dish, it is very difficult to notice that this has happened until you are biting into your food. The hard, grating sound of grinding salt/pepper makes it impossible to hear that a piece of plastic has snapped, and the fact that ground flecks of pepper, or especially salt, are supposed to be falling from the upturned mill make it difficult to see that, along with your salt or pepper, there is a tiny piece of jagged, clear plastic falling on your dish as well.
