Black and Decker “Smart Grind” Coffee mill, about 5 years old, sparked, sputtered and blew both the safety outlet in the kitchen and the circuit breaker in the garage. At the point the wires emerge from the base, the insulation was melted and bare wires were visible.
The unit has never been used to gring anything except coffee beans and grains. The cord has always been rewound into the base per the owners manual.
