The product, in the report: Veggetti spiralizer http://www.asseenontv.com/veggetti-spaghetti-maker-turn-veggies-into-healthy-spaghetti/detail.php?p=537612

I received the below product (As seen on TV, Veggetti spiralizer) as a gift and purchased several for friends online via Amazon. I used it regularly for soft vegetables - zucchini only - for about 2 months. Recently, I was using it and once I had made my food, I noticed when eating it that the sharp metal tab that is at the end of the blade had come off into my food. It was cooked into the food and I did not swallow it, so sustained no injury. I want to make sure that it doesn’t happen to anyone else. I don’t believe I misused the tool and a metal part shouldn’t just come off into the food.

I also sent this information to As Seen on TV via their comment form today.

The product, in the report: Veggetti spiral vegetable cutter

Purchased the Veggetti slicer and the first time I used it I cut two fingers slightly on the metal side grips which have extremely sharp edges. This can be a very dangerous item especially with damp fingers. Needs to be immediately recalled and destroyed.

The product, in the report: Veggetti Spiral Vegetable slicer white with silver handles

I purchased the Veggetti pasta maker. I used it to slice up 1 cucumber, a squash and a zucchini. My sister found a small mental piece that looked like it came from the inside of the Veggetti in her cucumber slices. Sure enough their was a missing piece. Took it back for a refund

The product, in the report: Veggetti Spiral Vegetable Slicer

My girlfriend purchased a Veggetti for me for Christmas this year, and we used it for the first time today (11 January 2015). We made potato pancakes as suggested by the included booklet, and in processing the potatoes, the small tab in the pictures attached broke off, landed in the potatoes, and ultimately in my mouth. I did not use the device in any way other than that suggested by the included booklet. Having happened to me, I’m sure it could happen to anyone else and could cause severe damage to peoples’ mouths as the tab is razor-sharp.

  7. No one hurt

Made Jan 28, 2015, sent to the company Feb 5, 2015, published by CPSC Feb 23, 2015

The product, in the report: from their web site, “Veggetti has 12 ultra-sharp stainless steel blades that effortlessly slice through vegetables for endless pasta strips. Veggetti works on any food that is two and a half inches or smaller in diameter. The most popular foods are zucchini, squash, carrots, and potatoes. Veggetti is dishwasher safe, does not require batteries, it is manually operated and the Veggetti is reusable.”

I picked a metal shard out of my mouth that broke off of the Veggetti Spiral Cutter that I used to prepare a salad. There is a metal piece missing from my spiral cutter that should be held in by the plastic portion of the tool. This design flaw could have been extremely dangerous if metal piece was swallowed. I am infuriated of the internal damaged this could have caused!!! I have pictures of my product and the missing piece from it. You can see on one end where the metal piece came from and on the opposite end, where it is missing. The product was purchased from Bed, Bath and Beyond. The product, in the report: Veggetti spiral vegetable cutter. New “As Seen On TV” product to slice a variety of vegetables into spaghetti-like strands. Sold in many stores and online in many sites.

I purchased the currently very popular Veggetti (as seen on TV). After extracting it from packaging, I was looking it over before washing and using it when I discovered that the two metal ‘handles’ down the sides have edges that have been just slightly turned inward, but those inward edges are still very easily accessed by fingers and are EXTREMELY sharp. Very much like 4 sharply honed knives.

The packaging does warn of the sharpness of the cutting blades within the product, but something should be done about the “ergonomic comfort grip” as described by the packaging. I’m afraid to have this in my home and I don’t even have children around to be concerned about. I can’t imagine how dangerous this would be in the hands of a child. I’m sure I’m not the only person to have discovered this and I’m just as sure there are people who must have sliced open fingers in the discovery. Fortunately, I made the discovery before doing any damage to myself.
