  1. Emergency room

Made Feb 23, 2015, sent to the company Mar 3, 2015, published by CPSC Mar 18, 2015

The product, in the report: Pro Smart Slicer by Twin Towers Trading - Limited www.twintowerstrading.com Made in China

I reached into the box to get the peeler that also came with the slicer and my thumb grazed the razor sharp slicer slicing part of my thumb off. I had to go to the hospital ER where my wound required stitches to stop the bleeding b/c an artery was sliced. I had never used this particular slicer and did not realize how sharp it was. Considering how dangerous it is I would think it should have some kind of guard on it

  2. First aid

Made Aug 1, 2014, sent to the company Aug 11, 2014, published by CPSC Sep 2, 2014

The product, in the report: PRO/SMART it is a black plastic product with a surface that has a blade across it and a separate plastic piece that holds foods to be sliced. The positions can be rotated by pushing and turning a knob to make it into a slicer dicer and french fry maker. However there is no lock or safety position to lock the blade when not in use or when being washed. It is approximately 5 inches wide and 15 inches long.

I purchased a PROSMART slicer at a Von’s market on 7/28/14 after seeing a demonstration of the product. The person demonstrating it said that it was approved by the “culinary institute for the blind” for safety!

I own another mandolin/slicer from a different manufacturer and have never had a problem, but when I brought this home and tried it out, I then rinsed it off and sliced my finger, at which point I realized it has NO SAFETY setting, meaning the blade is always exposed on all settings and cannot be put in a neutral position. I found this very disturbing and it is clearly a lack of a safe setting i for this very sharp blade. I was not certain how a company could produce a product that was so blatantly dangerous even when not in use.

I tried looking up the manufacturer and the information contains only an address, no phone number or email! (there is an email for returning “broken”or defective equipment at: www.twintowerstrading.com this is a dangerous product!
