The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

The product, in the report: Oxo Good Grips Apple Slicer - sku 32861 https://www.oxo.com/categories/cooking-and-baking/fruits-vegetables/fruit-and-veggie-tools/oxo-apple-divider.html

Oxo Apple Slicer. This is the second one that broke - metal ring and blades detach from each other and the plastic frame. The first time (approx 9/20) it sliced my hand when it came apart - could have caused a more serious injury if the blade had gone deeper into my hand. The second time (5/21) the center ring came detached. I only have pictures of the 2nd incident. Adult was using the product to slice an apple. I contacted Oxo after the 1st incident. After the second, I researched various websites and found multiple customers reporting the same issue.

  3. Emergency room

Made Aug 6, 2012, sent to the company Aug 17, 2012, published by CPSC Aug 31, 2012

The product, in the report: OXO Hand Held Mandoline Slicer #119100, retails for about $15.

Holder did not hold the potato I was slicing because it has no spikes, merely small plastic pyramid shapes. My hand slipped when the potato slipped and I cut off my fingertip. Amazon reviews report a high rate of injuries with this product. There are also many comments about the inadequacy of the holder. Some even say they know the product is dangerous, but they use it carefully. A few even say they use it without the hoder, that they know it is dangerous, but continue because it cuts well and they are being careful. Acidents can happen.

I hope that you check Amazon reviews and other sources as many never file a report and it is free information.
