  1. First aid

Made Jan 21, 2019, sent to the company Feb 6, 2019, published by CPSC Feb 22, 2019

The product, in the report: Food Chopper (manual Operated) Name on unit is ZalIk. The “i” is upside down in the spelling of the product. The box container is 5 inches by 9 inches and is about 4 inches deep. The cover holds the various 3.5 by 3.5 inch cutting blades. The hinged lid is lifted and food placed on blade, then closed to chop food.

Was preparing a meal using the manual food chopper made by Zalik. Have used other foof choppers before, but this was the first time using this one. Wife purchased two from Amazon. The chopper worked fine, but then it was time to clean it. The sharp thin metal cutting blades are incased in a 3.5 inch by 3.5 inch plastic frame. The various size cutting blades snapped down into the top cover of the chopper. I was using the medium size. To remove the blade you must pry it up. The amount of force require cause me to slip off the edge of the plastic and slice open my thumb. Three cuts and one very deep. Did not go to doctor. Treated both thumb myself. I said both thumbs because after wrapping thumb up and putting on a rubber glove to complete clean up, I ended up cutting other thumb just picking up blade assemble. The plastic frame does not provide enough picking up surface to protect your hands. Talk to another friend and she said the same thing happen to her. My recommendation is for the manufacture remove locking tabs for blades and attach a thin lifting tab to them.
