  1. No one hurt

Made Mar 24, 2021, sent to the company Apr 1, 2021, published by CPSC Apr 15, 2021

The product, in the report: Cuisinart vegetable and fruit chopper - 4 pieces, including a large dice blade plate, a small dice blade plate, a 4 1/2 cup collection container plus lid with a square collection of plastic pegs that serves to push food through the blade plate, a non-slip base, and a cleaning tool. Model CTG-00-VC2

I was using a Cuisinart vegetable and fruit chopper to dice an onion in the manner directed by the included instructions and later found several small pieces of plastic in the bag that I used to store the chopped onion. Upon close inspection of the chopper, there were several irregularities in the plastic teeth that push the food through the slicing blade. It appears as though the plastic pegs that push the food through the slicing blade plate aren’t aligned properly, resulting in the blade plate slicing off bits of plastic, which end up in the food. The pieces of plastic that I found varied in size from 1 or 2 mm up to 12 mm. I read a review of this product on [REDACTED] that said the same thing had happened to another consumer and it resulted in a trip to the ER because the consumer’s infant daughter had eaten a few of these pieces. While I was aware of the defect and was able to pick the plastic pieces out, I can’t guarantee that I found them all. I’m not a medical professional, but I believe the pieces are large enough and sharp enough to cause an injury.

Made Jun 23, 2017, sent to the company Sep 14, 2017, published by CPSC Sep 28, 2017

The product, in the report: Cuisinart mini prep plus, chopper, white, non riveted blade

I went to check my cusiniart products for the recalls that was issued in december 2016. I noticed mine wasnt in the recall; however, upon inspecting my blade in the Mini-Prep Plus that I have, the blades are the kind that are not riveted. My blade’s plastic that surrounds the blade is separating and I am afaid it will come apart as the ones in the recall.
